Thinking the continental breakfast could be improved - maybe some other fruit instead of only bananas. Muffins got a little boring after the second day. Maybe having a toaster and some toast and jelly packets would be nice.

Absolutely love the McGrady Inn! Karen and Adam (proprietors) are wonderful, and their Inn is unique and immaculate. I lived in Charleston for 12 yrs., and this is the one (and only) place I will stay when re-visiting. Great atmosphere, great cozy amenities, and a wonderful place to relax and unwind, in old-world style and comfort. The choir-loft rooms are super fun!

Really nice place to stay!
If you are looking for a quiet, unique place to stay this is a great choice. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating and it was one of the most comfortable hotel beds we've ever slept on. It was also nice being able to use the kitchen area if we wanted to bring food back to the Inn for meals. We will stay here again if it's available next time we're in the area.

The property is beautiful The location was great. safe The bed was very comfortable the pillows however were hard as rock and I had a headache after sleeping on them The bed was high A footstool kept underneath the bed would have been appreciated The breakfast was okay but could have been more choices such as local bakery pastries and more fruit

Overall very good experience. Host was very pleasant and welcoming. Property is very cool - old church converted to B&B. Area around property is deteriorating with poorly cared for homes. Internet was spotty. Breakfast was on the minimum side. Would stay here again.

The Inn was beautiful and spotlessly clean. However, I was disappointed in the TV service. TV was on a local station when I turned it on but could not change channels and as I do not have Netflix, Hulu or any of those other services I could not watch TV at all. I just wanted to watch local ABC, CBS, NBC programming. I would not recommend to anyone that cannot do stairs. It was very difficult to get up the stairs to the entrance since I am 69 and have asthma. Owner was very nice. Only complaint other that the TV was other quest was not very friendly. Went straight to her room & I felt uncomfortable being in the open area as I did not want to disturb her. Plus I was looking forward to a blueberry muffin and discovered she had ate all of them. So breakfast had to be found some where else

Hi Linda. I'm so sorry that the tv was confusing and there were no blueberry muffins left. I tell all my guests that if they need anything, they can call or text. I would have been happy to help you with either of those. Unfortunately, I can't do anything about the stairs into the Inn or other guests. We go out of our way to make our guests feel at home and strive for great service. A five star experience is very important to us and I'm sorry you didn't feel like you received this. Please let us know if there is anything we can do in the future to make your stays more enjoyable.

What a unique inn in a former church! Owner met us at check in and was very friendly. Room was very clean and comfortable as was the rest of the inn. Large bathroom. Definitely a winner!

Beautiful property! Accommodations were spotless and staff friendly and very helpful. My only complaint was we stayed in the 2 queen suite and I could hear our neighbors thru the walls. Small complaint though as I would highly recommend the McGrady Inn if your staying in Charleston

An Honor
Karen, my host, was very helpful and kind. I told her my reason for staying solo and she was wonderfully empathetic. The Inn was stunning in it's beauty, warm and cozy in it's welcome. It was an honor to stay there and I will definitely recommend the Mcgrady Inn to family and friends.

McGrady Inn is so unique - it is a historically significant building that has been restored to it's former state simplicity and beauty. When you enter through the main doors the vaulted ceilings take your breath away; just because you are not expecting it. The furnishings are simple and comfortable and suit the period. Everything we needed was on hand to make our stay perfectly relaxed and enjoyable.

Deluxe church renovation with packaged food options. Staff meets you on site and leaves for the evening. Great spot for small reunion or group meeting! Surrounding homes are sad, but this site is a gem. Quiet and secure.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this inn. Very hands on an very friendly owners who ensured everything was perfect. The hotel is wonderfully unique, yet provides an inviting and orderly atmosphere. This stay was so much more pleasurable than the usual hotel chain. We will be back and are confident our future stay will be as pleasant as the one we just had.

Awesome Historic Bed & Breakfast
The McGrady Inn is a gem of a Bed & Breakfast venue. It is a repurposed century-old church building near downtown Charleston Il. The renovation done to convert the building to its present use is flawless. Many original features of the former worship space - have been lovingly preserved so that the overall experience honors the building's original purpose. The former worship area is now an awesome great room for relaxing, having a continental breakfast or to just soak in all the wonderful details of the interior space. Our gracious and friendly host and co-owner, Karen, met us at the door, explained a few details, showed us to our comfortable room - one of only five total rooms - and we then had the entire place to ourselves as we were the only guests for our one-night stay. Our room was nicely appointed: a comfortable queen bed, large closet, flat screen TV, desk, and a spacious bathroom. The only caveat I have for future guests here is that you need to be able to navigate stairs to get to the main floor and additional stairs to the 2nd floor, where 3 of the 5 rooms are located. Communications with the host, Karen, were very timely and useful.
