The hotel is clean and staff are friendly and helpful with good recommendations. Breakfast was disappointing for such a hotel - yoghurt wasn’t proper yoghurt, eggs other than the biggest scrambled eggs cost extra but if u like break and cake for breakfast there’s lots of carb options. The hotel has no air con so was very warm and we were there in spring - had to sleep with window open but if a light is on then the bugs come.

Modern Clean Comfortable

Nice Hotel. Very modern, spacious room, good wi-fi, great buffet breakfast. Unfortunately it just takes one staff member to taint your experience and you feel like you never want to come back. Long story made short: a tall thin guy at front desk was uncomfortable serving a gay couple. So much so that each time we went out and came back while walking past the front desk he would elbow his coworker whispering something and they both would stare then laugh. It could be because we are gay or because I am black. No other staff behaved in this way.... just that one guy who was at the front desk (Apr 10/17 at 2:30).... I was tempted to confront him.... but doing this would have ruined my stay... so I chose to ignore his b/s rudeness. The hotel is on a steep hill and the views were great. El Calafate is super expensive for eating out and buying suveniers so increase your budget for this portion of your trip.

Felt like luxury but we didn't pay for it.

Posted Apr 13, 2017 on Hotels
Very pretty hotel with an amazing lobby. Its a short walk up a hill from the bus stop. Room was quite large and comfortable. No AC but that seems to be the way in Patagonia. We were fine when we opened the windows. Hotel staff didn't book a massage that my husband requested so that was disappointing, but other then that they were helpful and spoke English. Breakfast was one of the best we had in Patagonia and our lunch at the restaurant was nice as well. Its a small walk to the main street (about 5-10 min) so if you don't want to walk you may want a closer hotel, but we didn't find it to be an issue. The area seemed safe and we had fun walking around El Calafate. Felt like we were staying in a luxury hotel but not paying for it. May be because we went in the off season. They also had a pool but we didn't try it out. Looked nice though. Wifi was good.

The location of the hotel is pretty good, just 2 blocks from the Main Street. The breakfast is good, and the hot pool is nice after a long day outside. The cleaning lacked a little bit in terms of common areas.

Quirky large hotel on hill above the town

Posted Mar 25, 2017
Pros: Comfortable room, interesting interior design, the food was good.
Cons: Customer service at reception, to make guests feel welcomed.
Location: A little out of the town centre. The Perito Moreno glacier an hour away by car. Laguna Nimez nature reserve for birdwatching in town.
When I booked originally in November for March, I booked the wrong month by mistake. Expedia tried immediately to get the hotel to change the booking to the right month but they wouldn't, I had to make a new booking so I paid twice for the stay. The hotel itself is nice with very modern interior design, comfortable warm rooms. The restaurant and food were good. A porter helped with our bags as the access is awkward with suitcases due to steps and gravel car park. The problem was reception staff who were not particularly interested in us, not even a thank you or goodbye when I checked out. It was not as if they were really busy, they just carried on chatting to each other.

Very comfortable room and helpful reception staff. Disappointing breakfast in terms of quality and range of food and unfriendly staff at breakfast.
