We chose this place because my wife and I wanted a quiet, romantic few days together in a cabin where we could sit out on the deck, drink our coffee, talk, and enjoy each other, and nature in this beautiful season of the year. We arrived to find the entry way muddy, mud on the floors inside and the bed appeared to have been "ruffled. We had driven 11 1/2 hours to get here... for the "beautiful vistas" shown on the sight, which WE fully expected would be out off of our front deck... only to find those "vistas" 250 yards away, up the hill, and off the (inaccessible) balconies of the "Forks Inn and Restaurant. And that "quiet enjoyment of nature" that we came for; was completely drowned out by the Jake Braking big rigs coming down the hill (30 yards) behind the cabin; and the freeway 100 yards off the front deck.
The description said that the cabin was for two. But there was no place in the living area for two people to sit together. There was only ONE recliner (which would not stay in the reclined position). So, either my wife or myself had to sit in a straight backed dining chair if we wanted to watch a DVD on the flat panel TV. DVD, I say, (and only one DVD player, in the living room; none for the TV in the bedroom), because that was your ONLY choice, There wasn't even a set of rabbit ears to get local over the air TV (cable outlet in the walls, but no cables connected to the TV sets.) As for the kitchen area: The refrigerator freezer box was completely frosted over (had to chisel out enough space to get a bag of ice into it). And one of the large stove top burners was collapsed down into the range. We didn't use it for fear of an electrical short. And, in the bathroom; the sink drain needed adjusting and the exhaust vent did not work.
Really; we feel that if there had been FULL disclosure on the website of ONLY what is in the FIRST paragraph above... we would have looked elsewhere. We have never had any issues such as these (booking online) previous to this experience; but, one thing is CERTAIN, we have gotten an education on this one. When I informed the "property manager" of the issues with the property; her response (two days later) was "we are addressing the issues" but, in essence "that we should have rented a more expensive cabin".
One cannot help but wonder if there are not standards that website owners like Home Away have regarding the accuracy, and COMPLETENESS of what is presented on their site?
My advice... LOOK ELSEWHERE.
