Disappointing Hotel for Price

Posted Dec 11, 2017
Pros: The bed wasn't bad
Cons: Get real pillows. Clean up dead bugs. Scrub the tub. Install a water filter. Get a nicer receptionist.
Location: Walk to the beach. You're in California.
Since this hotel as a prime location on the PCH/101, I expected more for the price. It should be noted that this hotel doesn't have 24 hour check, which was not mentioned when I called to reserve a room or on the 3rd party site. Secondly, this hotel has the WORST PILLOWS ever. Be sure to bring your own. Their pillows are similar to miniature rocks. You will understand when you see it. Dead bugs on the heater. Bathtub should be bleached. Poor tasting water from the faucet. Strict 11am check out. You will get a call at 11:10 reminding you to leave.

Wonderful cute look, but

Posted Nov 25, 2017
I loved the ammenities they had, the room was so spacious I felt very comfortable. My mattress was not at all comfortable, I tossed and turned all night. The bathroom had a towel rack that was badly rusted and all my towels besides two had rust on them. Noticed lots of roaches in the light fixture too, they were dead but still >.>

Quaint inn on Highway 1

Posted Nov 11, 2017
It is a quiet location. Room was nice, clean and comfortable. I checked in late and left early, but I’d stay here again.

We booked the Portofino Hotel for a night to rest our heads after attending a wedding in Encinitas. It was inexpensive and within walking distance to the ocean. Since we live in San Diego, instead of spending the extra money to uber a ride home, we decided to stay at a local hotel. It was decent for what we needed it for. If I am being honest the only thing I would point out is the smell in the room. I have bad allergies and asthma. I immediately smelled chemicals when I walked in. Enough to the point it would set off my asthma if I didn't air out the room right away. Other than that, there are great places to eat right next door. It was nice the room had a mini fridge. The air in the room worked just fine and it was nice there were plenty of parking spaces at the hotel for our car. I don't like booking a hotel and then finding out there is an extra charge to park. So that was nice.

Not bad until we tried to sleep

Posted Oct 16, 2017
The good: Clean room, clean bathroom, polite staff The bad: Air Conditioner kept shutting off without cooling the room The ugly: Worst pillows ever. This may sound like a silly thing, but don’t say no one warned you. My husband equates them to deflated basketballs. Combine that with a hot room, well it wasn’t worth our money that’s for sure. Needless to say, neither of us got much sleep that night.

VERY DISAPPOINTING HOTEL

Posted Sep 18, 2017
Pros: Quite pleasant personnel.
Cons: Upgrade the property.
Location: Lots of excellent things to do in Encinitas, CA.
Serious deferred maintenance issue, ie. missing bathroom fan, lots of chipped paint, old furniture, worn out mattress, dirty carpet, ill fitting drapery, lack of adequate lighting (missing light bulbs) and dirty upholstery on covered furniture.

Terrible

Posted Sep 11, 2017 on Hotels
When arriving, at 430pm to check in There was not anybody at the front desk. Then when she arrived it seemed to be a bother. The room was terrible, old carpet the windows didn't close and the shower didn't drain. Very dirty feeling!

Good deal for the money, but needs attention. They are going to remodel next year, we'll come back then! Location is great!
