A useful hotel for a stay in Ennis

Posted Sep 15, 2017
This is a large hotel with a gym attached. It was the gym that attracted us, as by the time we arrived we had been travelling for 4 weeks, and needed some solid exercise to combat the weight gain that comes from bad holiday eating. We stayed 4 nights and learnt how the hotel sustains its size - by catering to the coach tour business. There were always coaches, and their passengers coming and going - so the place was busy, with doors slamming at all hours and people thumping about upstairs. If you can avoid it, don't book a downstairs room. But the facility of the gym balanced the intrusion of the coaches - for us at least.

A Tour Bus Haven - but not great for families

Posted Sep 12, 2017 on Hotels
Negatives: Very dated hotel used by large tour buses; check-in front desk staff was unfriendly and unhelpful; parking inconvenient to hotel. Positives: Lunch in the pub was very good one day and the pub was a nice amenity by night; swim pool and spa area was also appreciated.

Outdated Hotel

Posted Jun 27, 2017 on Ebookers
Pros: Staff were very helpful and very pleasant, and the meal I had at the bar was quite good.
Cons: Read the review
Staff were very helpful and very pleasant, and the meal I had at the bar was quite good. However, guests would need a map or GPS to get to their rooms. It has one of the most confusing, sprawling layouts I've ever experienced. The room itself was functional but could do with a major facelift and the facilities in the room particularly the TV should be replaced immediately. Three stars - I don't think so. A busy hotel in the heart of Ireland's tourist industry should be fresh and fashionable and offer more. Come on - UPDATE the decor and facilities

Yes okay hotel, staff wonderful, hotel a bit tatty round the edges. It was good for what we needed, a base for father ted locations. Note no lift and its an old maze of a building, and if you have a room in the rear its can be confusing. Pub okay, breakfast standard fayre. For the price, somewhere to sleep and shower its fibe
