NEVER AGAIN! - HOTEL ALIF CAMPO PEQUENO!

Posted Sep 6, 2017
Pros: When the breakfast room was finally found, amid all the construction debris strewn in our path, and lack of lighting, the breakfast was very good.
Cons: I believe the most helpful thing I could say would be to train the front desk staff to interact properly with guests.
Location: Lisbon is one of the world's great cities. There is no shortage of things to do.
1. Non-disclosure of massive, noisy renovation at time of booking and subsequent stay. 2. Front Desk was confrontational, threatening and abusive to spouse on Day 2. Unresolved. 3. Spouse and brother trapped in blacked-out elevator No. 1 due to construction power cut, with no emergency bell or phone available. Screams for HELP unheard or ignored. Unresolved. 4. Housekeeping: On Day 2, staff threw 2 towels in bidet, did absolutely nothing else. Ordered not to clean by hotel employee at desk. Unresolved. 5. Refusal to supply second key card, even on request. Continued for stay. Unresolved. 6. No lighting due to construction in hallway leading to low level breakfast room. Unresolved. 7. No refreshment amenities. One bottled water machine in lobby. 8. Insufficient bath supplies and towels, even on request. Unresolved. 9. Day staff at desk refused to phone a taxi. (Cabs could not park at hotel due to construction) at time of booking. 10.This was, by far, the most disappointing hotel experience of entire trip of this or any city, ever.

Convenient for the metro

Posted Jul 6, 2017
Functional but no frills. The decor, carpets, and furniture are very tired. Rooms are advertised as soundproof, but this does not extend to the door to the corridor or mechanical units (aircon, etc) fixed to the outside of the building - I found several nights I had to wear earplugs because of shouting in the corridor late at night and a throbbing humming noise. Comfortable bed. Bathroom very outdated and tired - laminating bathroom door due to moisture from the old-fashioned shower and discolored grouting of the tiles.During my stay, the bar was closed for refurbishment so facilities were nil in that respect. Self-serve breakfast was good and the staff helpful and friendly. If you just want a place to crash, this is perfect.

construction noise a nuisance, nice staff and area

Posted Jul 5, 2017 on Hotels
This hotel was nice. The location was away from the tourist areas, but still close to great restaurants and across the street from Campo Pequeno's shopping. It is also close to the Campo Pequeno train station so easily accessible to everywhere if you purchase the all-day pass. The staff was nice and helpful with directions. My only issue is that they are working on updating the rooms and there is constant noise (banging, drilling etc) between the hours of 10am and 7pm. It is not a problem if you are out sightseeing, but definitely a disturbance if you choose to sleep in and rest. We did receive an updated room, so I guess the disturbance is to bring better accommodations in the future.

Decent place to stay with free and poor WiFi

Posted May 19, 2017 on Hotels
Decent place to stay close to the Metro. WiFi was free but very weak and no option to upgrade. Street noise bad eve at 5th floor. Breakfast was OK but boring and exactly the same for 5 days.

A very well situated hotel. Not too far from the airport by taxi. There were many amenities in the area. Very close to Metro Station, restaurants and the beautiful Campo Pequeno ( old bull ring) and its shopping concourse. I have stayed at this hotel several times before and have recommended it to friends. Not that it would have made a difference but I think I should have been told when I booked that it was undergoing renovations. Overall a very good experience.

Nice hotel close to airport and very good price

Breakfast was OK, I didn't like the hot dogs for meat. Great coffee. Room was very large and clean. Great price. Nice staff. I would stay here again. Very close to the airport. Convenient and perfect for our one night layover.

Even when you talk portuguese they still see you as a tourist.
