Had an enjoyable stay room was very nice with only 2 minor points, noisy extract fan and low water pressure to shower otherwise excellent.

Needs a bit of sprucing up.

Pros: Close proximity to Colchester centre and no parking fees. WIFI. But could kick in straight away. It would be an improvement.
Cons: Room 114. stained carpet, ancient bed and not too comfortable. Bathroom could do with a facelift and bath replaced with a shower. less dangerous.
Location: Colchester, well what can one say, it just oozes with history. Hard to ignore.
Arrival/reception staff are very friendly and helpful and an asset to the hotel. Tired hotel that needs more than a lick of paint. potholes need repairing in carpark. Hotel is not prepared for the modern business traveller. Breakfast is highly questionable for price charged. same old, same old every day. Awful serving trays with lids making it difficult to serve yourself without having three arms. Coffee from a machine which everybody has to save money and time but taste is highly questionable. Could be a fantastic hotel if someone invested some TLC into it.

DSS Occupied

Pros: nothing
Cons: Keep long term residents with mental issues away from regular customers, don't deceive members of the public or paying customers
Its rife with individuals with learning difficulties mental heath issues disturbing other customers with random and repetitive knockings and bangings. For instance i was in room 114, they had one in 116 and 112. this is the pattern in which they are placed all over the hotel. i know this because i changed rooms a number of times. if you do bring this to the attention of the hotel, they would tell you, you are imagining things. If you get this type of response from the hotel, tell them to open the room that the disturbances are coming from, trust me Dragonfly would decline to do so because there is one of these guys that are not well there! There is nothing wrong with Dragonfly housing people with learning difficulties ,drugs and mental issues but they should be kept well away from other customers. That made the hotel look like the sound proofing is very poor indeed then the hotel is a bit dated, my toilet wouldn't flush correctly!

Convenient overnight accomodation

Posted Nov 18, 2016 on Hotels
We were needing somewhere relatively cheap to stay in the local area and this fitted the bill. However, the bed was not very comfortable and the room was very tired. Although the linen was clean the room was not pristeen - but it was quite cheap. Breakfast was about adequate
