we ate dinner (excellent!) in the library (fireplace, cozy), danced in the lounge to Shiny Lapel Trio (wicked fun band! that we follow), stayed over night, (comfortable bed and very cute view overlooking main street).
Very charming property and very friendly staff. A wholesome breakfast was included in the cost of the room. The staff knew a great deal about the local history and culture of the community. We will definitely stay here again.
Staff was friendly and breakfast was really good. The property was located real close to the activity we were attending.
great atmosphere and location - communal breakfast was wonderful - met many nice people
Friendly, helpful staff that provided great information about the area and things to do. Inn was a comfortable charming place with o stay.
I grew up in this area but moved away long ago. Anytime I'm headed back and need a place to stay, I always look to the Old Lyme Inn. It's conveniently located right near the highway, walking distance to the historic district, art galleries, grocery store and shops, etc. The place is well maintained, ...
Relatively; inexpensive. Would have preferred rooms with double beds at ground level, BUT that is ok.
There's nothing more satisfying than a day out exploring, and Essex Island Marina is an excellent place to start.
It is in Old Saybrook. If you're around the state capital, Hartford, you'll need to journey 30 miles to catch sight of it.
There's only one place to book a room if you intend to stay close to Essex Island Marina, and that is The Griswold Inn. It's 0.08 miles away.
There are a couple of inexpensive hotels nearby. The Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Old Saybrook Westbrook and the Liberty Inn are a selection of the most well-known places.
Every so often, it's a nice idea to treat yourself. So if you're hunting for a hotel that's a step up in class and style, be sure to check out the Copper Beech Inn, which is only 3 miles away.
Few travelers can withstand a day of tours and sightseeing without a quick pick-me-up. Essex Coffee and Tea Company is a perfect rest spot as it is close to Essex Island Marina. If your stomach is howling with hunger, reserve a table at Sweet P's, which is also in the vicinity. And finally, pop open a beer and talk to some other tourists while you kick up your heels at The Tap Room at The Griswold Inn.
