Stay Away And Save Yourself

Posted Sep 17, 2017
Pros: It is old, historic and has character. The bar was nice and well run.
Cons: The staff is the worst experienced, worst trained bunch I have come across in any hotel, anywhere.
Location: Good location very close to Rocky Mountain National Park.
Hotel is historic, well located and has great character. BUT check in is confusing because there are three entrances and none is marked as to where you should go. Parking is difficult and far away. The rooms are not air conditioned and were hot even in mid- Sept. Could not sleep. Also, you hear the people on the floor above you walking on you ceiling, which groans loudly at all times of day or night. Worst of all, the hotel staff is the worst trained I have ever encountered. We called room service, got voice mail, had to leave a message and they never called back. Went to hotel dinning room eventually and our waiter informed us that there is only one person assigned to room service for the entire huge hotel and that person does not know how to retrieve messages left. Also, the guard at the parking lot, instead of asking us if we were hotel guests, greeted us with the following salutation, "What's the plan, Dudes?" Also, the desk clerk, who was unable to answer our questions about the hotel, finally confessed that he had recently graduated high school and only worked there a week. My advice: stay at one of the condos near the river and just take the hotel tour if you want to see the place.

Just wanted to end our 2 week tour with a visit to this historic hotel. Pretty pricey but the experience was nice.

Interesting experience

Posted Sep 14, 2017
Hotel was Ok, not as new or spacious but for the history it was worth to stay a night. There is no AC if you stay during summer and 80's outside hard to sleep need to leave windows open. The bed was not as comfortable as I thought. Everything else was good, staff is super friendly and nice ambiance.

Openness

This is a grand classic hotel with all the modern amenities. The staff is open and friendly. The room was comfortable. A waterfall at the pool and fireplace pits lent a peaceful atmosphere. The tour was great. I feel fortunate to have stayed at such a famous and beautiful hotel.

Nice hotel with lots of history.

Posted Sep 9, 2017
Pros: The history.
Cons: The outside is in dire need of scrapping and painting.
Location: The fall river road is an excellent drive with incredible scenery.
Overall our stay was outstanding. The main facility was somewhat overrun with tourists and people not staying at the hotel. We enjoyed the tour, the pictures of the facility from the past and the food.

Pros: The view
Cons: Rooms updated and staff trained to be more customer centered
Location: Great view from hotel. Lots to see and do.
The rooms were older and small. You could hear the next room VERY clearly. For the price you could have had a much nicer room elsewhere. The staff were not friendly at all.

Hi Phil, Thank you for taking the time to leave us valuable feedback and I'm very sorry to hear that your expectations were not met. Our main hotel room types often experience noise disturbances because of the architecture and historic nature of the property. We do offer various room types, some of which are more contemporary and may be better suited to your needs. We would love you to stay with us again, and I highly recommend booking directly with our reservations team to get a room type which meets your expectations. It's a shame that we have not met your expectations, and we sincerely apologise for the opportunities we have missed to make your stay special.
