Typical Hampton Inn and no surprises. Please could we have real glasses and lose the paper ones?

Close to the Fern Canyon, where we wanted to go.

Posted Aug 17, 2015
Pros: Convenient location. Nice staff. Good restaurants nearby.
Cons: Breakfast was quite OK, but could be better.
Location: The Fern Canyon, which involved 6 miles of dirt road and crossing some streams, was very interesting.
It's about one hour of driving from the hotel to the Fern Canyon, where we wanted to visit. There are some good restaurants with nice menu nearby or in Arcata. The stay fitted into our itinerary well.

Pros: It was very clean and the room was nice.
Cons: Some games to borrow that families can enjoy. Coffee all day every day.
Location: Trinidad bay Marine lab was small but fun.
The breakfast had enough choices, the staff were pleasant, the facility was kept up.

Nice hotel close to the beach as well as HSU

We had a very relaxing stay, the only negative we found was that after our long drive the hot tub was barely lukewarm.

Perfect

Pros: Everything! Breakfast was good, room was spotless, staff was friendly.
Cons: Not really
Location: Beaches, park, HSU, Trinidad, Arcata downtown, ect...
This hotel was clean, fresh and comfortable!! They wash the sheets, pillow cases and bed covers everyday, so you're never sleeping on someone else's mess. This is TOP priority for me when I choose a hotel. It was a great stay and I will return to this hotel asap!!

Pros: GREAT staff.....friendly and helpful. Good breakfast.
Cons: No refrigerator in my room. I would expect one from an upscale hotel such as this.
Location: Close to university, ocean, little town of Arcata. Just off the freeway. Easy to find.
Nice stop-over for travelers. Close to ocean, university, quaint town of Arcata.

Disappointing Hampton In

Posted May 10, 2015 on Hotels
I love staying at Hampton Inns when I go traveling usually they are a little more expensive than other hotels but are worth the added expense. I was excited when I saw I was going to be able to stay at a Hampton Inn at least for a portion of my vacation. When I arrived at this particular Hampton Inn I was really disappointed. It appeared to be a relatively newer hotel and it looks like they spent more money and time on trying to make it appear elegant than on room comfort. The insulation between the rooms was terrible and you were at the mercy of your neighbors on all sides when trying to go to sleep and what time you get up. Walking through the hotel it seems they should have spent more money on better insulation and making sure the rooms were more comfortable than spending a lot of extra money on plush chairs on the outside of the elevators on the top floors which nobody used or the other over the top stuff found throughout the hotel to appear to make it look more fancy than it really is. The neighborhood was kind of odd on one hand you could walk to a couple restaurants but to get there you had to walk on past tractor trailers and some shady vehicles which was not a comfortable feeling

We liked the location and usual good amenities from Hampton.
