We have been charged for 3 nights instead of 2

We booked, stayed and invoiced for 2 nights and have been charged for 3. When I rang the motel I was advised the extra $70 was put through to verify my card and would be refunded in 24 to 72 hours. That was 11 days ago. I have returned to my country and will now have to pursue through my credit card company. This overcharging caused major upset and problems, as our card then declined when we went to get fuel. We had $30 cash, an overcharged card, no other means of money, 260 miles to travel back to our main hotel and tolls to pay. Absolutely let down and spoilt our experience of this part of our holiday.
