“One of the best independent pub hotels I have stayed in. Cannot fault the accommodation but the drive to and the parking in the village could prove challenging if you are not used to driving in rural single track areas. Great place”

“Lack of water in the rooms and limited amount of tea and coffee, for two people. Whilst I understand the need to cut back on extras like this, these are the little things that make the stay special. Impressed by all the staff who greeted us nicely whenever within their space.”

“English style hotel. Convenient to go Exeter town centre. I like the breakfast.”

“Top level floors have rooms with slanted ceilings. This takes up air space and makes those rooms a bit awkward to move. The tanks up there make loud noises when filling too. May be a more pleasant stay if you book rooms on the 1-2 floor. Nice bar/brunch area downstairs and friendly staff. Near downtown.”

“I don’t know who Lord Haldon is, but one thing I know for sure is that he hates everyone who stays at his hotel. We’ll start with the positives. The views from the garden and parking area are lovely. The bed was clean and comfortable. End of positives. Both the hotel’s communal areas and our room were extremely dirty, poorly maintained, and in need of a complete renovation. The shower, in particular, was pretty gross and just about dribbled out of the showerhead. No toilet brush was provided……
