Good Guadalajara location!

Pros: Location and friendliness of stafff.
Cons: The facility is simply getting "tired" and needs updating!
Location: Shopping, entertainment all very close.
In our 12 years in Mexico my wife and I have spent over 100 nights at La Mansion. We have recommended the hotel to countless friends. We make it a regular monthly stay for usually two nights (a Friday and Saturday) which allows us to visit favourite restaurants. On Sunday, prior to leaving, we shop at Costco before returning to our home about 1 hr. south on Lake Chapala. This past weekend we again reserved for two nights. As the hotel was quite full we were placed in a room that we had not stayed in previously. Because of our frequent visits and our well in advance reservations we are often lucky and are given rooms that we have stayed in previously. Sadly, this trip the room was less than satisfactory. Small bathroom with no exhaust fan. The bed was very uncomfortable. On Saturday afternoon a severe storm lasted over two hours. The dining room was completely flooded. Water was coming off the roof. There was no drainage adjacent the dining room which resulted in a non-stop inflow of water. For 3 hours the minimal staff worked relentlessly to try and bail with buckets. This was generally left to one male employee, (Victor) who barefooted, and completely soaked fought a non-stop and mostly useless battle to stop the flooding. Sadly management staff are not present to supervise or assist. There are hard working staff who are capable of providing intelligent recommendations to the ownership. Money needs to spent to prevent reoccurrence!

Great price and location

Location: Chapultepec nightlife, Chapala, Ajijic, Tlaquepaque, Mazamitla, Guadalajara, Omnilife Stadium, Vicente Fernandez Ranch
This is a nice hotel with spacious rooms, very traditional decor and very well located. The night shift bell boy, Victor, is a very nice person, just the opposite of both of the front desk ladies, these girls seem that were always on a bad mood, the kind of rude people that you don't even want to talk to or ask the for something, our experience would've been terrific if it wasn't for both of the front desk girls. This hotel is right on the middle on all the must do things like Chapultepec nightlife, Chapala, Ajijic, Tlaquepaque, Mazamitla, Guadalajara, Omnilife Stadium, Vicente Fernandez Ranch, ETC . If you're planning to take tours, you MUST ask for Israel, your own personal tour guide for a very reasonable price and very, very convenient, he knows the area and every suggestion he had ended on a great experience for us. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and certainly will return, I would just prefer a more friendly front desk staff.

Hotel expierence

Booked our hotel through Expedia, great deal. First impression of the hotel was it nice. We were checking in and the wait staff was very rude to us and to the other couple we came with. We had asked for one king bed and the receptionist was rude and said they give what is available to those who book through Expedia. She also said that if we had proof of what we had selected she needed to see it before she offered us the high bed. We looked for our email confirmation, but unfortunately it only gave a brief description stating it was a junior suite. The receptionist then said since we didn't have a full description she could give us a king bed in a smaller room and pay $150.00 more. At that point we decided not to continue arguing with her and kept the queen bed. I was shocked of how rudely we were treated when we had only to be accomadated with the request we had reserved. Be aware that everything is very pricey. You even have to pay for wifi per device and per day. Breakfast for 2 was $60 it was decent, but I had a large egg shell in my eggs. The wait staff is nice and very attentive. They also only have two elevators for the entire hotel. One had been down for the last 2 days, so if you plan on taking the elevator it'll be about 10 min wait just for the elevator to get to you. I expected a lot better service and expierence. Overall I would give this hotel a 3 out of 5. The first experience with the rude receptionist was just unacceptable.

TOTALLY EXCELLENT IN EVERY CATEGORY

Pros: Virtually everything. Great value!
Cons: An ice machine would be wonderful.
Location: Great location for access to shopping. Uber makes to and from travel a breeze!
As retired Canadians now having lived just south of Guadalajara for the past 13 years we have stayed at La Mansion del Sol countless times. With one recent exception that resulted when a very lazy and uncaring employee went out of his way to disrupt our stay we have always enjoyed all aspects of the hotel. This most recent stay was once again wonderful and we already look forward to our next reservation 5 weeks from now.

Beautiful, quaint and comfortable.

Cons: It is a little warm inside the rest of the hotel. Although the rooms have A/C, it did not seem to cool very much.
This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a small, comfortable and rustic atmosphere compared to the "sterile" ambiance of typical chain hotels. The rooms are clean, spacious with plenty of modern amenities including a coffee maker, television, radio in the room, bedside chocolates, and a myriad of "gourmet" soaps to choose from. The beds were very comfortable. The restaurant is small and quaint with a beautiful garden view with plush green grass and water fountain. The food was very good and service was impeccable !

Pros: We liked the decor, and the room was very nice.
Cons: We were on the ground floor and there were not enough windows to open at night.
Location: The location was good and we could walk to restaurants and shopping near by.
Very nice hotel with a pleasant court yard. The staff was most helpful. We enjoyed our stay there and we will be back in a year of so.

Wonderful find in quiet neighborhood

Pros: Staff, breakfast, decorations, atmosphere, garden, room comfort, free garage parking
We only stayed here one night, but will likely return. Well appointed common areas and rooms, small hotel with excellent food, friendly staff, nice gardens and sitting areas. It was easily the nicest hotel experience we have had in Guadalajara.
