I love and generally try to find a Holiday Inn Express wherever I go unless I am trying to splurge on a fancier hotel that week. I love the cleanliness, kindness of the staff, the hospitality, free breakfast, the ease with check in/out. I generally have zero complaints. However, I was disappointed with the noise level in the unit directly above me with this stay. I called twice to ask the desk person, Carol, to ask them to settle down above me, but she felt it was necessary to have someone come to our room to listen versus taking care of the issue. I guess she felt I was lying. Then, she sent maintenance worker up to our room and he did not knock, but just opened our door. Luckily my wife had just finished getting dressed. He heard the noise and reported the issue to Carol. The noise was stopped...but talk about poor service:( I have been in service all my life and have work part-time as a front desk person. I would not have handled that in that manner. I certainly would not send the maintenance guy who expressed confusion about whether or not we were in the room or not. I still value Holiday Inn Express. I will hope this serves as a teaching moment for Carol.
