Hotel is on Main StPosted Sep 9, 2015
Pros: Everything, very charming. It's old but fixed up nicely. Very clean too.
Cons: I wouldn't change a thing. Don't fix it if it's not broken.
Location: 30 minutes to Berkeley. Probably one hour to San Francisco by car. You need a car from Benicia though.
It was great! There was a farmers market out front of Hotel. The Hotel draws a lot of local people to its restaurant. We had dinner outside, along with our two small pooches. The town is rated fourth friendliest Dog City in America. The pier is in walking distance. The cafe across the street offered the best breakfast ever! We will probably go back there monthly. Hotel is charming and cozy. Just a fun time for any couple wanting to see something new. P.S. there is a ghost that lives there named Mary.

It sucksPosted Sep 9, 2015
Pros: It was a neat old building.
Cons: Service all the way around....
Location: Great Location, could be a money maker if they would keep it up better, it is really a shame.
1.) I was suppose to have a king size bed, 2.) The bathtubs have a film in them, not clean. 3.) No hotel staff on duty until 3:00 pm on Friday, and then only for 3 hours. 4.) Cost way too much money for what you get.

Period HotelPosted Aug 31, 2015
Pros: Great location on the main business street with lots of dining and shopping options. You can open the screened windows and let the fresh air in.
The Union Hotel is a great alternative to a modern motel. The building is from the mid 1800s. My room was comfortable a peak into a historical setting. The room was large and furnished with antiques including a very large 4-poster bed. Bathroom was also large with good fixtures. The staff was accommodating for my late arrival. There is no staff on duty during the night.

Needs better breakfastPosted Aug 23, 2015
Cons: The included continental breakfast leaves a lot to be desire. The serving area is tiny, two armchairs only. Breakfast items very limited, all too swee
Location: Good eats, beautiful sunset.
Located in quiet part of Benecia, close to Oak Bay. Good bars, cafes and restaurants nearby.

Quaint hotel in the heart of BeniciaPosted Aug 1, 2015
Pros: The room and especially the King bed.
Cons: Febreeze the entry area and elevator as they were musty smelling. NOT a good 1st impression. I wish the front desk was staffed longer than 3-6..
Location: Antique stores galore and several Good restaurants in easy walking distance.
We were going to a Concert at the Waterfront festival in Benicia and this was a convenient place to land. Unfortunately the concert started at 11:30 and went until 6 so we never saw ANY hotel personnel . I'm to blame for not reading the fine print and didn't realize we were too early to check in before and too late after. Fortunately they called and left a key in the foyer. When we arrived the entryway immediately made us nervous as it as well as the elevator had an off putting smell to them. However once out into the hallway it was fine. We stayed in Sea Lavender. It was very romantic and the room was wonderfully appointed with antiques. If you looked between the buildings you even got a view of the bay. I was very happy with the bed too. I normally sleep on a waterbed and find myself tossing and turning in a conventional one. This was firm, soft, comfortable and covered in comforters and pillows. I had one of the best nights sleep ever. Although I live fairly close I will come back..

Quaint hotel, close to all the I wanted go to.Posted Jul 21, 2015
Love my room. Only drawback was the elevator noise. Once I got use to that, everything great.

Comfortable room in great locationPosted Jul 1, 2015 on Hotels
The location was excellent; right by the antique stores and plenty of restaurants. The "breakfast" included was a laugh. A couple pieces of fruit and some cereal boxes. The juice & coffee cups had no lids so you couldn't take anything to go -- but there was no where to eat except back in your room. A very strange set up. We didn't see any of the resident ghosts.

Escape from San FranciscoPosted Jun 30, 2015
Location: The Union Hotel is a five minute walk from the Bay with stunning views and a great pier. There are little trails around the bay. Lots of Art.
Less than an hour away from the big city, the Union Hotel is in a perfect spot. The staff was very accommodating even though they are not always present. The rooms are a little shabby. They remind me of hotels in small towns in France. If you love that sort of place (and I do) the rooms are perfect. The bathroom was nice and clean and the towels very adequate. My room "Wild Peony" Has a lovely view of the bay peeking through wonderful trees. Directly below is a parking lot and the kitchen sheds, but they are out of the way. There is a very comfortable chair in Wild Peony and I spent a lot of time in the room working either there or at the little desk at the bay window. Benicia's First Street is so nice: full of shops and good restaurants. Just kitty corner from the Hotel is the First Street Cafe where I ate my supper and breakfast. The "continental" breakfast at the Union is the only thing that was really discouraging. They would be better off just having some really good coffee and encourage folks to eat across the street.
