Historic hotel in need of much work

Posted Jul 17, 2017
Pros: You could see what this place 'used to be'.
Cons: Maintenance
Location: Close to Frisco and Breckenridge where there is lots going on.
This old hotel is a rough gem .... that needs polishing. The casing of the room's door was all chewed up and you could barely lock the door. Bathroom: Needs a toilet seat cover; toilet seat was movable (broken); very cheap 1-ply toilet paper; only one washcloth for two guests; in-shower shampoo/shower gel dispenser was empty; no soap. Bedroom: Bed was comfortable; this was said to be the 'best' room; there was an ice bucket in room, but hotel doesn't have any ice!; closet wasn't big enough to hang anything in; no coat hangers; only 1 extra pillow; tv did not offer any local stations or major networks. Continental breakfast: Was Ok, but needs greater choice of morning juice .... not everyone likes cranberry juice.

Limited Amenities

Posted Jul 17, 2017
Pros: My dog was allowed, however there was an additional $20 fee.
Cons: See overall review.
Disappointed in the room overall. There were no glasses for drinking water, no soap and shampoo for the shower, only 2 small containers of conditioner. Television is small with poor reception. Restaurant and bar service was poor at best, drink prices were high.

Charming but a little disappointing.

Love the old hotel. Wouldn't call this a b&b. Mediocre continental breakfast. Could have been a little more inviting and a little cleaner. The scenery is breathtaking though !

Historic B&B type hotel

Posted Nov 21, 2016 on Orbitz
The hotel was okay. I booked it because it was walking distance to an event. The staff was accommodating when requests were made. As indicated it's historic so it's old. My room was clean. Didn't feel it was worth the rate, however it was one of the less expensive places and it was convenient.

Pleasant, Turn of Century Hotel

Posted Nov 5, 2016
Pros: Authentic room character, including canopy bed. Our stay was short so we didn't use it but they had a cozy looking lobby. Coffee and tea service was available in the morning.
Cons: Carpet needs a shampoo. TV was smaller than my computer monitor, maybe upgrade to a 24 inch size? The king bed was nice, but filled the room. No space for a sitting chair.
Location: The attached old saloon is fun. Its a short walk to "Old West" style shops, and city riverside walkway.

quaint and a little eccentric

Posted Oct 24, 2016
Pros: The dogs.
Cons: Pave the parking lot.
Location: I'm a geologist and there's lots of interesting geology nearby. Fairplay is a small town with all the advantages and disadvantages of that.
Old (1920s) hotel in the middle of town. Comes with two friendly dogs. Old but serviceable furniture. Good place if you're in the mood for something other than a generic highway motel.

Nice place for an overnight stay.

This was fine for a place to sleep and a shower. No complaints.
