Problems with reservation

Plain & Fancy is in a great location for checking out Elephant Rocks, Johnson Shut-ins and Taum Sauk Mountain. The B&B's setting is appealing, with a creek in back, a fire pit, patio with table and chairs and a hot tub. The interior is charming and nicely vintage. Our problem started when I arrived with my three sisters for a stay in the Rhett Butler suite and the otherwise sweet innkeeper said she was expecting only two guests. What? I had talked to the innkeeper two weeks before our arrival to confirm all the details. I also had a printout of my Expedia confirmation for 4 people and a "paid in full" receipt (I am a planner!). But the owners airily announced that we would be on the hook for an additional $60. I got on the phone immediately with Expedia, fought my way to a manager got a promise of a $60 credit to my charge card.
Also: The frame on the foldout couch in the Rhett Suite was broken. There was some alarming talk about trying to "prop up" the bed before a nearby room was made available at no charge. The issue for my sisters and me was the owners' attitude that the four of us were getting away with something, which created an uncomfortable vibe.
At checkout, the owner announced that the website for B&Bs would make up the difference. I tried to show her the Expedia receipt but she was not the least bit interested. My sisters and I really enjoyed the area but the hassle with the folks at Plain & Fancy put a lot of negativity into the trip.
