"Quaint stay in Ferndale"
Check in was a breeze, and included a tour of the house and grounds. I did miss breakfast on the first morning due to an early appointment, however I did not miss breakfast on the second day, and I might add that it was delicious. On the first day, I did make afternoon tea and socialized with both staff and guests. The Fair was in town beginning a two week stint, and I did make it to the horse races, and it was a great time!!! Everything in town was well within walking distance, and very convenient. After breakfast the 2nd morning, I got to witness the removal of the large palm tree to the left of the mansion as you face Berding Street. It was such big news as virtually every picture of the mansion over the past 60 years included that tree. Hopefully the proprieters will plant a new one in its stead to watch grow and flourish for many years to come.

"Comfortable hotel in stunning Victorian town"
Thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay during our West Coast road trip. We arrived mid-afternoon so able to explore town at our leisure. Breakfast was different to the usual hotel offerings.

Pocket Guide: Ferndale, Eureka Historic Hotels

The northern gateway to California's Lost Coast, this well-preserved Victorian village sits beside the Eel River amid the redwoods of Humboldt County. Featured in many movies, the entire town has been designated a historical landmark. Dunes and estuaries are just 5 miles away at Centerville Beach. Visit late May for the bizarre Kinetic Sculpture Race, considered the Triathlon of the Art World.
