Nice hotel - pity about the beach

Posted Jan 10, 2018
Pros: The pool, the bed and the Japanese restaurant
Cons: The white decor throughout was stylish but a good wash or repaint is now in order.
Location: Unless you just like lying by the pool, (which appeared many people did!) there was a small range of activities to do on the island, all not far away.
The hotel had a great pool, excellent Japanese restaurant and pleasant staff. The accommodation was good but not quite as expected by the images seen in promotion.Created the impression of an older colonial style which was limited to a very small part of the hotel. Great location right next to the beach but the dirty water and risk of jelly fish stings ruled out any swimming -pity.

Lone Pine, Penang

Posted Jan 9, 2018
Pros: Staff Pool Location
Location: Great location!
This boutique hotel is really quite special! Set in lovely grounds, the hotel is very charming and you instantly feel at home. The staff are very nice , helpful and eager to please. The breakfast buffet offers a wide range of delicious food. The travel desk offers very good day excursions/ packages at very reasonable rates. I would certainly recommend this hotel!

tired and in need of a substantial refurbishment

Posted Jan 4, 2018
Pros: Location on the beach, swimming pool is nice
Cons: Refurbishment of outdoor eating areas required, especially breakfast and casual dining area, which was very poor
Location: Batu Ferringhi is in heart of tourist area of Penang, so access to lots of activities is close at hand
Good location, but many of the hotel amenities, such as the breakfast/ casual dining areas, are simply old and tired and need to be refurbished. Hotel has location to exploit beach-frontage, but hasn't had the vision to convert this area into the welcoming heart of the hotel - it's cluttered and disjoint, with a mixture of styles and ages of fixtures and fittings. Definitely not a 4 star experience at the moment.

Horrible experience despite hotel looking nice.

Posted Dec 28, 2017
Pros: pool is nice, breakfast spread is good.
Cons: Staffs need tremendous training. Better time management in housekeeping the room and managing guests.
Location: Andrew's Kampung (a restaurant nearby) is awesome. This restaurant made us feel more welcomed than this hotel.
We booked one superior room and were checked in at 4pm despite arriving before 3pm (Check-in time). The staffs are under-trained; we were told "pls talk to my manager if you have a complain". We checked into a room that was half tidied up. Showed the room to manager and she got it tidied up while we went swimming. After swimming activities, the bed was made up better but we found an empty bottle of mineral water on TV shelf and leftover water in kettle used by previous guests. The room was nice but the whole experience was ruined with long waiting time and half tidied room. We would not recommend this place based on experiences we had vs. the price we paid (esp during peak season).

Calm, relax and worderful stay

Posted Dec 22, 2017
Nothing much to say.. but overall I am satisfied. Will i be back? Defitinely yes. For my breakfast experience, i woluld rate 3 out of 5. The chef cooks per order section was good.. but the pastries.. as a 5star boutique hotel.. I suggest you find a new baker. (An honest foodie here) All and all.. lone pine is awesome!

Management has changed. Hotel in need of maintenance. Lifts not working well. Rooms are old and in need of fresh makeover . The whole hotel needs fresh paint.

Excellent hotel to relax in beautiful surroundings

Posted Dec 9, 2017
Enjoyed the hotel facilities, staff were very helpful . Could not fault their service. Will stay again when in Penang next. Loved Penang as well. Only disadvantage is that Batu Ferringi is quite a distance from Georgetown

Spacious room and quiet environment

Posted Dec 7, 2017
Yes the bedroom and bathroom are spacious. Ample of space around. There is a bathtub in the balcony for guest to enjoy a soak with Pine trees view. Lobby area is picturesque. Breakfast buffet spread is normal. Staff at the kitchen may need more training. Eg ordered a soup noodle and took a while to be able to get the bowl of noodle. It wasn’t a crowded hotel so it’s pretty relaxed/quiet environment. Not much activities for kids - swimming pool and a game room with board games, computer for internet surfing and a PS3.

Nice hotel on the beach with great breakfast

Posted Dec 6, 2017
Pros: Quietness, location, breakfast and friendly staff
Cons: Cleaning
Location: Great beach out the back door and very close to the night markets.
Our hotel stay was made even better by the excellent service and friendliness of the staff. Rooms were great even though a bit dated and needing a really good clean. Location was perfect. Pool looked very inviting although the weather was not so good. Just a shame about the wet weather and also the noise from the garden maintenance each day, but overall a lovely resort which I would recommend.
