A Gem that has seen better days

Beautiful decor around the hotel, lovely tilework, rooms good size although our room looked a bit drab others were more modern, working fridge, safe and a/c. Nice pool view room. Excellent bell men and restaurant staff. Enjoyable half board and breakfast offered a good spread. Not UK 4 star but good for that part of the world. Main pool area pleasant and clean. Lobby area mostly good with some cigarette smoke. ATM in lobby. Warm milk for the baby every night, free of charge. Good housekeeping mostly. Little shops with all the things you need apart from nappies.
Negatives: Play area unsafe. Kids pool unsafe and had bird poo in it. Had to complain but quite frankly a lot of the play equipment needs to be removed entirely. Hard to get tissue or toilet roll replaced. Or bins emptied. The housekeeping number was usually never answered. No lifeguard unless you count the pool boy. No babysitting unless you want the cleaning staff to look after you kids.
Possible issues: There was a resident cat who would come and join you for dinner, he amused my little one but someone else might find this a problem. Key cards always seem to NOT work but thankfully we weren't far from the hotel lobby. Apparently you must not put the card near a mobile phone. Water and drinks are expensive but you can always go out and get something. The minibar was empty so we filled it with our own stuff. No kettle in the room or other tea/coffee making gear.

Thank you so much for your constructive detailed narrative regarding your experience at Royal Mirage Fes during September 2016. Containing several issues and remarks related to our different free facilities especially Kids pool and Play ground which seemed more deceiving than profitable for you.
I would like to enlighten that after we discussed together the issue about the kid’s pool and playground , and as promised, I took note of all your observations for the sake of improvement. I informed our engineering on the spot to proceed to official maintenance although we had no complaint during all summer time.
But, after receiving your comments, our General Manager processed to a special meeting requesting meticulous report and attention for both areas as far as maintenance is concerned.
As for , the complementary compensation , you requested only free late check-out on which I agreed and offered an apology VIP that was sent to your Room to express our excuses .
At last, we renew our deepest apologies for your unpleasant experience, hoping you enable us to welcome you once again with your toddler to make of your stay an enjoyable one
