Beautiful hotelPosted Sep 24, 2015
Pros: The location is within walking distance of many sites and the train station. Beautiful, spacious rooms. Reserve a balcony room.
Cons: The fitness room equipment was sparse.
Location: Close to many of the beautiful sights in a beautiful city.
We had a lovely time in Florence, and this hotel was perfect for us.

I stay in Florence every month for business and I always try a new hotel. Grand Hotel Villa Medici is the 10th and so far the best BUT it does not mean it deserves 5 stars!!! It is not the best for the breakfast buffet... only a selection of chewy industrial breads + packaged portions of cheap "President" butter + apple tart with soggy pastry (at 8am) + average quality coffee served in a teapot and plastic-covered-Ibis-style dining chairs. Liked the building itself, the entrance hall and its decoration, the bar area, the efficiency of hotel staff and care given by bar staff and the location. I will probably go back.

Great location and nice pool areaPosted Aug 6, 2015
Pros: Clean room and we had a great terrace facing the Duomo.
Cons: The reception area is a little tired but still nice. The breakfast buffet wasn't great because of a tourbus.
Location: Great spot, 15-20 min walk to everything the Duomo, Pont Vecchio and museums.
its in a great location, nice walking distance to everything and has a nice pool area to cool off. Not many city hotels have a nice pool area. its not large but great to cool off.

Beautiful hotel and facilities. Great welcome on arrival, we were advised that our room was upgraded which was nice, although I had booked a room with pool view we were given a higher spec room on the ground floor facing the street- closing curtains when changing and hearing the tram passing were the negatives for this room. Room service menu prices were obscene - 18euro for a ham & cheese sandwich, doesn't matter how nice a hotel is this type of charging really takes away from the hotel. Overall great service, food was very good, very nice atmosphere.

Great, beautiful hotel. Not very convenient location . It's at least a 20min walk to the tourist attractions.

Hotel Villa Medici Rates a 10 out of 10Posted May 26, 2015 on Hotels
I have only positive things to say about this wonderful, beautiful and historic hotel. The service was fantastic. Everyone on the staff went out of their way to please and accommodate with the most pleasant and friendly attitudes. I have stayed at numerous 4/5 star hotels and the Villa Medici rates very high in my estimation.
