Friendly staff, good location, but with some flaws

That owners are very friendly and helpful, and are nice to talk to. The room is big and spacious and comfortable. The location is very central and convenient. On the downside, you give your key in the morning and can request it again in the evening. It reduces your sense of autonomy and made me less inclined to pop to the hotel during the day as I'd have to ring every time. Having your own set of keys throughout would have been much nicer. The other minus is the shower/toilet - of which there is only one that everyone has to share. It's a lovely hotel, and decent value for money - but not necessarily my first choice if I was to come back.

Ponte Vecchio Close by

Pros: Love the proprietors, very accommodating
Cons: Breakfast would be nice. Some repair on the floor tiles in the bathroom.
Location: So close the Ponte Vecchio, Duomo, Plaza Vecchio, Pitti Palace right across the bridge, walk to everything from here.
This is the second time we have stayed at the Hotel Cestelli mostly because of location and the proprietors are the sweetest couple. We had forgotten that being so close to the action meant noise and lights. It is a lovely old villa and typifies old Florence. The rooms are pretty large and the beds aren't too bad, linens are nice. I find the European mattress to be kind of hard, as it was the same every where. It is clean as someplace this old can get I think. Could use some tile repairs in the bathroom. Spotty wi fi but use able They do not offer breakfast as some of the other places do but the location is unbeatable and the cost pretty reasonable. We paid less than 10 Euro cab fare from train station.

My friends and I stayed at Hotel Cestelli for three nights while we were in Florence. The hotel is small (8 rooms) and located off the beaten path. Because of this, the two owners are avaliable to help you at anytime and are very knowledgable about the area. Additionally, the hotel is within 10 minutes walking to everything. The rooms were large and clean. The only downside of the hotel is the shared bathroom. While this was not an issue for us as we were visiting during the off season, if the hotel was busier, it may force you to wait to shower and use toilet. We enjoyed our time at this location.

Beautiful stay!! Alfonso and Azumi were fantastic hosts and gave us great places to eat and see that were off the tourist paths. Also reliable information in best times to go and see the main attractions. Rooms were lovely, homey and kept really clean. We felt very secure here.

Very small rudimentary hotel in a great location.

Pros: Location is great. Easy to get to from the trainstation and easy access to all the main attractions.
Cons: Internet reception and door key and lock mechanism could be improved and add some shower gel and a washcloth to the tiny bar of soap provided.
Location: Very Central to Palazza Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo, the train station, Piti Palace, Uffici and Accademia Gallery- everything is very walkable
This was our first stay in Florence and I booked well in advance. This is a small, single star hotel, very clean, but rudimentary. Lovely original antique furniture. Bring your own soap and shampoo though. Small shower. Internet reception very poor. No air conditioning. The lobby is up on the 2nd floor, it is difficult to haul suitcases up to the lobby, no elevator, very historic building, excellent location, hosts are very helpful and kind. Appears that hosts have converted part of what was an apartment into 6 or 7 hotel rooms. It does feel like you are entering someone's home when you come and go rather than the independence of a hotel. It suited us OK because we aren't that fussy as long as the bed is good (which it was) and the quality of the bed linen is decent (which it was).

Managed to cut costs excessively

Pros: great location if it was managed for better guest comfort. The owners seemed to be nice people.
Cons: a room fan, don't rent this room out until the neighbor's kid grows up or learns to behave., provide hot water
Location: it is an easy walk to anything in Florence
The room was hot. The only ventilation was a window to a multistory shaft leading to the roof. The shaft was shared by a family below with a LOUD whiny kid that whined till 11 Pm each night-loudly! Additionally the strong odor of curry wafted up into our room The hot water at the sink in the communal bath was disabled. The hot(not) water in the room ran at a soda straw sized stream at best room temperature. Summary-no place to get hot water to shave. The hotel had strange rules. Upon leaving you were to leave your keys at the desk. Don't put you suitcase on the bed or furniture. Don't wash cloths in the sink (not a possibility given the water situation). No guests. Etc. . Avoid this hotel or at least avoid this room at this hotel.

Pros: Location, location, location
Location: Right in the centre in the centre of the fashion quarter and just yards from the Ponte Verdi!
Great Might be old fashioned in some peoples eyes but just remember that you probably came to Florence to look at old buildings and art masterpieces. Just the right vibe for us

Stayed here largely because of positive reviews. The location could also not be more central and almost everything is walkable in minutes. You are about 50 seconds at a trot from a view of the Ponte Vecchio. Has been a hotel since the 30s and current owners, a very friendly couple, have run it for more than ten years and clearly want to preserve it's classic simple style. We had a large and spacious room with sink and shared bathroom. Kept spotlessly clean with scented candles burning. Shower was just warm enough. I would do nothing to the decor but I would go for that extra star and add a kettle and a TV to the room and install some air con. It would not harm the feel of the place. Nevertheless, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel as it is. We were recommended an excellent covered market with eateries on the upper floor, where I got my Fiorentina ticket from. Ask and they are happy to advise.

The hotel was nice and was very conveniently located. The main drawbacks were no air-conditioning and a shared bathroom.

Pros: Clean, smelled very nice and had origami cranes folded around the place.
Cons: All perfect
Location: Right in the best area near the smartest shops, museums etc..
A fabulous value jewel of a hotel right in the heart of things. I had a charming bedroom and a shared bathroom, although it was always free and very clean. Definitely going to stay there again. A lovely Japanese lady with perfect English kept the whole place immaculate.
