The red light on the fire alarm in the room was blinking all night long. I was unable to sleep. It appeared that this was previously an issue, and the hotel only covered it with a piece of white tape, however the light was shining through the tape. When I brought it up to the front desk, the person at the front desk hardly acknowledged it, and didn’t even offer an apology or credit toward the room charges. If this was previously a problem, why didn’t the hotel take this room out of service, and address the problem prior to making the room available for guests.

Dear Jack,In reference to your review, we inform you that the hotel does not have any problems with the fire prevention system. All our detectors have a small light signal that certifies the good functioning of the system. This light signal can rarely bother the customer and the staff tries to resolve it temporarily. It is certainly not a valid reason to request any compensation, also because it is absolutely not a malfunctionsation..Best regards.

Nice location, hotel is outdated but staff are very friendly. Housekeeping was very well done. Location close to the designer brand strip i.e Hermes, Giorgio Armani, Gucci etc Would stay here again.

This was a great hotel with lots of things to do and see within walking distance. Only two small negatives. It was was warm (85 F) and the hotel said they were not allowed to turn on the AC until June. Also, there was a beautiful grand piano in the "piano lounge" that nobody played and guests were not allowed to play it either.

Our whole experience was exceptional! Thecstaff was friendly, attentive, professional, and happy. The rooms were spacious, updated, and the beds were very comfortable. We includedthe breakfast and the choices were exceptional along with the service. The location was central for everything we wanted tovsee and do. I would highly recommend this hotel!

The room and the hallway reeked with cigarette smells. Front desk was dismissive and denied smelling anything. The room was not cleaned properly so there were makeup marks on bedsheets and fingerprints on mirrors, etc. Dissatisfied with the condition and service overall.

A charming, comfortable hotel. The rooms were clean and inviting. The staff was most welcoming and eager to help. We enjoyed the bar with a real fire. With their Happy Hour, it was a relaxing place after a day sightseeing in the rain. It was quite conveniently located within easy walking distance of restaurants, fashionable shops (Hermes was next door), and the Duomo. We would certainly return.

Was a good find. Very central on a posh street. Old fashion European glamour. Not modern or chic but comfortable and nice. Feels Old World. Staff was not friendly at all- reception or the breakfast room. Prices was "good" for the location and size of the room. "Not mad at it" as the kids say....

Lovely hotel. Like entering a 1960’s hotel. Elegant. Stylish. A bit decadent. A place to meet Claudia Cardinale, Gina Lollobrigida or Sophia Loren in those years. The only thing I did not like was the strange smell in my room.

I have been coming to this hotel for many years. It is a beautiful property in the finest location in Florence. It is in the heart of the city center, walking distance to all places. The rooms are lovely and immaculate! The service and staff are the best! This is an A place to stay in Florence.

This hotel is in a superior location to walk everywhere in Florence. The staff is attentive and friendly. They made sure we had the right type of room and it was pretty and comfortable. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet every morning. If I had a concern it would be the heat was not easy to control. In the hotel’s defense we did not complain about it. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is conviniently located close to the shopping, turist attractions and dining options. the room was nica and very clean. The BIG problem we had is that internet didn't work in our room. We had to go down to the lobby/launch area to use internet. Every morning I reported this problem to the receptionsts, asked them to write down my complains and it was neve addressed. At the end the hotel manager told us that it was never brought to his attention, otherwise he would do something about it.

Manager canceled our reservation because he couldnt process our card, didn’t contact us or orbitz about the issue and didn't notify us until 2 hours before check in. We called and gave them a new card number which we got due to fraud alert, manager tells me hotel was overbooked and they gave our room to someone else, Then after my call they send me an email to call them about my card and to show my card when i check in, By then, I booked another hotel, manager was rude about the whole sequence

Great hotel, beautiful hotel with a great happy hour in the lobby. Room is unique with bedrooms over 2 floors. Our room was very noisy throughout the night as the room backed onto an alley.

The hotel was in the perfect location… only 5 minute walk to the Spanish steps! The staff was wonderful especially Fabio who was the bartender for the roof top bar! He was so sweet and personable. The rooms were spacious and very clean!

Our room had sewer smell the second we entered. It took them 2 nights to give us another room, which was smaller than our original room. It took them 2 more nights to change our room, and for similar room, they charged us more. Also for a 4 star hotel not to have hair conditioner and tissues in the room, to me is not acceptable.

The property is right next door to Hermes!!! Seriously though, the staff was amazing. From the servers in the breakfast room to the front desk concierge. Federico took time out to personally schedule dinner restaurants and also gave us an amazing upgrade. Lastly, the hotel has an amazing lounge area perfect to unwind, host a meeting or for a nightcap.

Good hotel with friendly staff.
We stayed 4 nights at De La Ville. We found the location to be ideal. Close to most of the attractions and walking distance to great restaurants. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Bathrooms were in good condition too. We did hear some late night revellers but that's to be expected when you are staying in the middle of the tourist area.
