Quieter location

Posted Jul 30, 2015
Pros: Room size, quiet at night, staff helpfulness, beautiful trees surrounding the area.
Cons: more options added to breakfast
Location: Boboli Park is excellent value and only 10 minute walk away
Villa Betania had large clean, comfortable rooms. Location was a 20 minute walk from town. Air conditioning worked very well in extreme temperatures. Breakfast was adequate to meet our needs. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Location was very picturesque. We would stay here again!

Nice hotel

Posted Jul 14, 2015
Pros: Room was spacious and very clean, bed was comfortable, air conditioning was excellent.
Cons: Breakfast wasn't included in the price I was offered.
Location: It's located on a hill right outside central Florence. There is a walking path next to the road that is very safe.
Hotel was beautiful, clean and comfortable. It is about a 20 minute walk from the city proper. There is also a bus stand nearby or you can take a short taxi ride. I like to walk and the weather was beautiful, so this didn't bother me.

air conditioning broken, no wifi

Posted Jul 11, 2015
Pros: Location, building structure and furnishings, breakfast.
Cons: weak wifi signal, water pressure, improved air conditioning
Location: The hotel is located right next to where the buses drop you off. It's in the middle of Siena.
My first night here, the air conditioner was broken. Keep in mind that it's 90+ degrees F in Siena during July. The wifi signal in my room was too weak to access the internet. In the lobby it worked, but not in my room. The wifi signal was also weak in the stairwell two floors above the lobby as well. There's no excuse for this in 2015, and I'm sure I'm not the first to bring this to their attention. Hotel staff seem content to ignore this problem. Also, laundry services are expensive. If you need to do a full load of wash, you'll be hauling your clothes to the other side of Siena to the only self service laundromat in town. My room was laid out in a strange way. The door to the closet was right up against the desk, and when the door to the shower opens it bumps against the door to the bathroom. Also, there's a system that uses the room card to initiate electrical power to the room. But there's no switches on the lights. To turn off a light, you have to unplug it. Kind of annoying since the outlets are sometimes behind furniture. Water pressure was kind of weak. On the good side, the hotel has an attractive lobby and the rooms are modern. It is clean. The complimentary buffet breakfast is very good (includes eggs, toast, fruit, cereal, pastries, coffee/tea, juice, cold cuts and cheese). I didn't come to Siena to surf the internet, but the weak wifi signal is a problem that the hotel needs to correct.

Quaint, convenient hotel

Posted Jul 5, 2015
Pros: Location, cozy atmosphere
Location: 15 minute walk to city center- everything is nearby!
I traveled to Italy with my childhood best friend. First of all, we found this hotel to be very conveniently located to the train station- it cost 14 Euro to take a taxi to the hotel and took less than 10 minutes. The hotel is beautiful and private, set back off the main road. There is a lovely courtyard outside, and a bar that is open to serve you there all day. Our room was modern and of decent size- hotel rooms are small in Italy, and this one was too, but it was average by European standards, and quite comfortable for the two of us. The bathroom was average sized- both were very clean. The walk to the city center was somewhere between 15 and 20 minutes, and a very easy walk. If you are tired at the end of the day, you could easily take a taxi back for maybe 10 Euro, or catch the bus easily. We walked both ways each day, but we are young and very fit. Whether you walk or take a car, all the attractions are very close. We enjoyed this hotel very much, and it more than met our needs. Thanks for a great stay!

horrible breakfast

Posted Jun 24, 2015
Pros: The front desk staff.
Breakfast was non existent on our first morning. We went for breakfast at about 9 am and there was nothing available other than hard bread, no water, no juice and breakfast did not end until 10 am! The front desk staff were great. There was so much dust on our walls. My husband had cut himself on the first evening and the sheets remained on our bed until the last night, the hotel staff just rotated the sheets from the top to the bottom. The location was nice and quiet but there is something missing with the service.
