Affordable luxury

Great hotel with wonderful friendly and helpful staff, we have just spend a wonderful week in Florence and the Villa Belverdere was perfect for us. The only issue we had was with mosquito bites , but that's hardly the hotel's fault.

Lovely setting for a short break

Posted Jul 25, 2016
Just spent 4 nights here. It's a lovely family run business, with very friendly staff! Great location just a short walk into the centre with easy access to bus routes. Hotel is set in lovely well maintained grounds and some rooms have great views over the city. All in all, a great base and Florence is beautiful!!

This is a Grace Kelly era hotel. Classy and quiet.

20 minute walk from downtown and a poolside retreat. This is a classic 1950s 1960s hotel. They do all of the important things very very well. The grounds are maintained beautifully. The pool is nice and deep and cool. Check in was easy and friendly. There is bar service. Breakfast was a European style breakfast. Eggs, cold cuts, fruit, and cheeses. The pool was very nice and they brought us drinks and small snacks. Our room included turn down service and free water bottles on our arrival. A/c worked well and we slept well in our comfortable bed with fresh linens. Closing the metal shades fully made the room totally dark. Ask for a room facing Florence on the 3rd or 4th floor. You will not be disappointed. Plenty to do on the property. Tennis, backgammon, cards and note writing. Excellent for business travel and families We will be back!

Lovely spot to stay in Florence!

Posted Jun 10, 2016 on Hotels
This hotel is off the beaten path so you'll need a car or you'll have to take a taxi to get into the city center of Florence to see the sights. It is so quiet and beautiful, though, it was worth the cost of the taxi to be there. There were even fireflies! We were sad to leave.

Stayed before and it was very satisfactory. Excellent location for Florence. Evening snacks were good. Water for showers was not very hot.

A bit far from the City Centre

Posted Apr 19, 2016
Nice hotel. The views are very nice of the skyline of Florence. Also it is situated in a garden type setting. Very nice! But it is a way from town. Taxis are needed to get to the sites. The breakfast buffet was fine. It would be nice to see more hot items. They do make eggs upon request. The hotel staff was very helpful in getting taxis and giving insightful information.

Beautiful hotel in great location

We arrived close to sunset and as we stepped out on our hotel deck area, we were surprised to see the gorgeous view of the garden area and out across tree tops to the city. This hotel was lovely.

Lovely old place, great service, good room.

Posted Aug 20, 2015
Pros: Excellent staff. Beer was cold. Comfortable room. Easy walking distance, location-wise.
Cons: A mozzie-zapper. Or have a stock of repellent and warn people as you offer them the repellent.
Location: The old town of Florence.
Waiters in white jackets, room staff in green. Formal style of service. Good staff, very personable and multilingual. It's about a twenty minute walk downhill into the 'old town'. Remember this, because it is uphill coming back, but only a short taxi ride. It was high season, and ht, and the mosquitoes very vicious. Take bug spray and repellent if you go there in summer. No mozzies in the room, but they were in the bar area downstairs. Air condtioning in the room was good, and en-suite was as well. Big towels! I like big towels. Couldn't fault it, really, apart from the lack of one of those blue light zappers that kills the mozzies.
