Very, very disappointed

Posted May 12, 2017
Cons: Staff, don't let outsiders use the facilities, fix the vents in the rooms so air flows more consistently, update the bathrooms
My husband and I planned a 2-night visit to help celebrate our wedding anniversary and were very much looking forward to our stay as we'd read many excellent reviews. Immediately after checking in we decided to relax by the pool and ocean. It's not a large space at all and there was a group of about 8 very young women (maybe 19/20 years old) next to our chairs talking and laughing and playing music incredibly loudly and just being rude. I was a little confused how this group was affording to stay at the hotel and my husband mentioned there was a sign out front of the hotel inviting people to come and enjoy the PUBLIC beach-front bar. So either these girls were taking advantage of this or were connected with people working at the hotel, but either way I felt incredibly frustrated that we had paid a LOT of money to stay here and anyone was welcome off the street to share this small space. By the way, not an isolated event; the next day others showed up and did the same thing! As for the included continental breakfast (that you pay for in fees), the hard boiled eggs were literally hard and rubbery, and the pastries inedible. If you didn't get to breakfast within the first hour, everything was basically gone and they don't restock. We found the staff off-putting our entire stay and borderline rude! The airflow in our room was odd so it was always freezing by the door and hot by the bed. I have already told friends and family to avoid this hotel. It is overpriced with bad service!

I always admired this beautiful house when it was a private home ... staying there is a dream come true ... everything is wonderful and does have character ...

Awesome place. Pool open 24 hrs. Pool towels provided. Adults only which is nice. Away from the main area (north end) of Duval

Historic victorian style hotel with pool on ocean.

Posted Mar 20, 2017
Pros: Quality, heated pool, and access for bike rental, location.
Cons: The price was a bit steep, plus we had to pay for parking on the property.
Location: Lots of nice eateries and shops nearby, but feeling like you had your own privacy by the pool.
We spent one night in this hotel and enjoyed the amenities of an outdoor bar, heated pool, ocean front patio, and bicycle rental. The location is in the quieter part of Key West, but a short bicycle ride to the hub bub of Duval Street and the port.

Would never recommend

Posted Mar 4, 2017
I don't even know where to begin so I'm only going to mention the major issues. First the building has no insulation and the house we were in was in front of a restaurant which people would be talking and banging on buckets every morning at 5:00am. There was a delivery truck every morning st 6:00am which would beep. You could hear everyone talking as if they are right outside your room. Doors slamming, showers, all super loud. The bar had a terrible selection of drinks. The bartender couldn't provide any advice on wines. In photos it looks like the pool is right next to the beach but in fact it's beach colored pavement. The location is in the older part of the island. It's very run down. The hotel is beyond run down. At a minimum they could renew the patio furniture. I could go on...in general I would never recommend this hotel. I wish we had stayed somewhere else as it kind of ruined our trip.

A beautiful and comfortable hotel

Front desk staff was very efficient during check in and helpful in trying to get us a cab. The hotel pool is heated and open 24 hours with a spectacular view of the ocean. Our room was spacious with clean crisp white linen on the king sized bed. Private bathroom was also very large with lots of hot water in the well equipped shower. Breakfast was perfect with lots of fresh fruit and freshly baked pastries, yogurt, cereal etc. We will be back!

Best Atmosphere and Location in Key West!

Posted Feb 16, 2017 on Hotels
The house itself is stunning in every way, as is the view from the ocean view room we booked, and from the elegant infinity-style pool that borders on the old helicopter pad that serves as a pier for the property. The room itself was a historical marvel with it's period furniture but also nicely updated bathroom, shower, and fixtures. The staff were very friendly and helpful, providing over all great service and in addition giving us good advice on local eateries and attractions as well as providing discount coupons to popular spots. We had a couple of concerns though. The front desk had a lot of trouble with payment issues, specifically not being able to process the credit card we wanted to use (although the card is/was 100% valid) and then leaving us, at checkout, with several unexplained charges they could not identify - on the card they said was declined oddly - and so we have had to pursue a reversal of the charges with the credit card issuer. The other concern was with the noise level around our first floor room. The staff were very good about keeping the noise level down when they were setting up breakfast but it is still a a bit of a noisy old house and we would definitely book a second floor room for our next visit. Also, and this is not a criticism of the hotel itself, but be advised parking on the property is not free and there are several other fees attached to bookings at Florida resorts and in Monroe county. Be sure you know what you will be paying!

Historic B and B on the Ocean

Posted Feb 10, 2017
Pros: The staff were excellent.
Location: The Butterfly Conservancy is very close by and is a must see destination-The La Te Da is also near and we had a fun night of entertainment and dancing
We had an excellent stay at the Southernmost House. The setting was beautiful, the breakfast was very good and the staff were tremendous. You can enjoy a sunrise over the ocean, a sunset over the ocean, or both. We had a great time. Wish we were there now.
