Convenient for a visit to Fontainebleau

Posted Oct 4, 2017
Pros: The staff was friendly and professional. The bathroom was great - very modern and comfortable.
Cons: Better signage and access for hotel guest. Need to have a bell boy on duty, or the ability of someone to assist a guest registering at the hotel.
Location: Hotel is in a very busy, congested public square which has many restaurants. It is also just a block away from Fontainebleau.
My experience with Aigle Noir Hotel began with a near-panic when I arrived late Saturday evening and could not find the hotel! After driving around the crowded, congested few blocks where the hotel was supposed to be, and asking for help, I finally discovered the hotel was hidden behind the busy sure of restaurants and a carousel. I was frustrated to find no way to drive up to the hotel to unload luggage. No place to park, unless I was willing to drive into underground parking garage or park two blocks away, down a dark street. Neither of these options were appealing to me - a single woman late at night. No one was available at the hotel to accompany me. I was not a happy camper. Finally found a place where I could unload luggage and schlep it to hotel. Took a chance and left car there for the night. When I asked if there was a bar - which I really was looking forward to - the answer was yes. But it was a self serve, honor corner shelf with various refreshments and alcohol. In the morning I enjoyed the buffet 'Petit dejeuner'. The staff was friendly and professional.

Very French

Location: Across street from entrance to palace. 10 minute drive to forest/bouldering. 15 minutes to lovely town of Barbizon.
Beautiful hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, Great location and free parking. Huge buffet breakfast with lovely quiet dining room. The decor was fitting to the area and not that of a chain where we could have been anywhere, would stay again,

Long weekend break

Posted Jul 25, 2017
The hotel is directly opposite the Fontainebleau Palace - side entrance which is convenient. Carousel for kids in front of hotel. The staff were excellent and very helpful in suggesting activities for children. No view from room but didn't mind- some furniture a bit tired and one of our rooms had water stains by the ventilation. As one of the premier hotels you expect a bit better. My bathroom was very modern -'slept very well. Breakfast at 20 Euros rather highly priced. What's on offer is amazing but after trying it one day chose coffee and croissant across the road. There is a large communal room too. Would recommend hotel if you can get a deal. My family were staying here which is why I chose it otherwise I probably wld have gone cheaper.
