Nice hotel for the money

No good restaurants in this town. Best food I had was at a Mexican restaurant behind the Holiday Inn which is across the street.

Room was comfortable, but smoke smell was very strong! Thought I reserved 'nonsmoking' room. But since it was for one night, we tolerated it!

Could have been cleaner

It was okay for a one night stay. Room could have been cleaner. There was blood on the bathroom wall and the back of the door.

Upon arrival at the hotel my boyfriend went inside to check room rates because we were just passing through and it was late and needed to rest. The clerk at the desk said it was a nightly rate of $80. I told her the room was advertised at a rate of $68 per night. She told me the only way to get the rate would be online booking. So to add to my hotels.com rewards I quickly booked online. I went back inside and told her my reservation number through hotels.com. Once we opened the door to our "non-smoking" room, it wreaked of a dirty wet cigar ash tray and was very hot even with the AC unit on. After just a few minutes I received an alert from my credit card that I had been charged twice for the room. Upon speaking with the front clerk she said that it was standard because online bookings are just a hold price and it would come off. I have used hotels.com many many times before and I know this was a false statement. I told her that the room was already fully paid for and the charges she made needed to be reversed. She said I would have to come back the following morning when a manager was there because she couldn't do anything like that. This hotel I will never stay at again.
