Colorful and charming small hotel whose owners and staff clearly put a lot of effort and experience into creating an artful and well maintained property. The location is beautiful and it was easy to get to nice restaurants and beaches, especially with the added range provided by onsite bicycles (the best feature!) The attention to detail and friendliness of staff were among the best I've seen. The room and kitchenette were well equipped and very clean. We met travelers from all over the US and Europe, and the small venue made it easy to interact and share stories and even meals. Many of them were repeat visitors over many years. However, there was one issue that prevented this from being the "knock-it-out-of-the-park" vacation it should have been; towards the end of our stay, a very loud family showed up and commandeered all of the common space with noise, clutter, dirty laundry hanging to dry, towels clipped to pool chairs all day to prevent others from using them, screaming children leaping and throwing balls in the small pool and filling it with toys whether or not in it, etc...they treated it like their own backyard, not a hotel.
While hoteliers cannot control who visits, they need to check behavior that interferes with the enjoyment of other guests. Thus, the small, intimate setting was a plus-minus as it was impossible to avoid the loud/rude guests despite enjoying the setting and a really lovely hotel in other ways.
