I stayed at this hotel for one night. I booked through Expedia and paid Expedia. When I got to the hotel for check-in, they asked for my card. I'm thinking it's for a security deposit. They charged me again for the stay; before I left the hotel, I brought the situation to their attention, and they told me that Expedia had to refund me. I contacted Expedia on 4 different occasions, and each time, they told me that the hotel refused to refund me. So the hotel took the money Expedia sent them on my behalf and also charged me for the stay. I contacted the hotel, and they said they would get back to me, but I have not heard anything. I'm disappointed and wish I had taken my money elsewhere.

Great location and staff was pleasant. Decorations are beautifully done but place isn’t as clean when you look closely. Had an okay stay until the morning of check out we noticed a bed bug crawling around in the bed 😭

The hotel is perfect, very clean and well taken care of. My flight was delayed three times so I called the hotel six hours before my arrival and told them that I would have a late check in. They said there was no issue and noted my room. When I arrived to the hotel at 1 AM with my family they told me my room was unavailable due to a smell, and they were sold out for the evening. The gentleman that helped me absolutely no assistance. Unacceptable. And he either needed to find me another room or put me up at another Renaissance in Fort Lauderdale. Miraculously, he found a room for me. This was completely unacceptable service. Other than this snafu, the rest of my trip was great, and we enjoyed the amenities such as the pool, restaurant, and gym.

After arriving at MN last night, the front desk staff was very pleasant and was clearly trying to accommodate her best the new arrivals in view of her key machine not working. We had to be escorted to our rooms. The room was very clean however as soon as I got into bed, exhausted, around 1 AM, I started itching. I was too tired to do anything about it and fell asleep. In the morning, the cleaning crew knocked on my door although I had put the “ck on me later” sign. I didnt noticed anything special in the morning so packed up and cked out. I passed by the lounge to grab breakfast but the only 2 options I saw were a breakfast buffet for $20 or Starbuck with its usual high prices. Apparently reserving through Expedia for a lesser price does not give you the benefit of a breakfast coupon. Unfortunately I have been itching all day and as a physician recognized bed bugs bites ☹️☹️😡😡😡Needless to say I !am far less than happy and would NOT recommend staying at this hotel until you see proof of extermination!!!

The Renaissance Ft Lauderdale West is easy to get to from the airport. It is very close to the highway and just off one of the exits. It is situated in a residential/corporate park area. The staff was extremely nice and accomodating. My family enjoyed a nice walk (~0.50 mile) around the lake behind the pool. The gym was convenient and had everything I needed. The pool is very nice and would like to use in the warmer months. Still nice to sit around and enjoy the Florida weather. My son also got a kick out of some of the wildlife in the rear of the hotel (lizards, fish, birds, etc.). We've had a few good stays here. We also noticed it seems to be a good hotel for people taking cruises out of Ft. Lauderdale. There was a Princess cruise bus and and one other cruise company picking up passengers as we were checking out.

I loved the hotel.. I had called to ask for early checkin. I was advised it would be around 1pm. When I checked I was told no notes for that. I waited in the lobby from1-4. At ,4 people were arriving and meeting rooms? I went up to rep and said can I get a room now? She said handicapp room was not ready . I didn’t know that’s why I waiting so long !!!! I said I don’t care what room and she gave me a room. Guess what? It was a handicap room after all!!!! She knew I was waiting and never let me know I could check in. I had to wait til 4 and get in line behind the line …. I would think the rep would have told me before the crowd entered that I could get a room!!!! Finally got the room . It wasn't til I turned in that I realized that the bed was broken. The right side had collapsed and so I slept at a slant all night. I didn’t complain because I was so tired and at 10 didnt want to have to move. I told the rep who checked me out and she said maybe we can comp you. Never heard anything!!!

Although the property has been updated, you can tell that the property is very old. Added to this, the finishing work is awful. There were tiles missing in my bathroom, and messy grout made the tiles appear dirty. The room was nicely decorated, but the bedding was horrible and the rugs by the bed are already showing dirty wear and tear. Flat pillows and cheap comforter/duvet. But worst of al,l the hallways and elevators were consistently dirty with food and dust. One day, the hallway on our floor smelled like a wet dog. The ladies at the front desk were pleasant. Parking was free and easy. Restaurant food was mediocre, but I was happy there was the option for food on-site. It wasn't the worst stay, but by far, it did not meet the Marriot standards I've become accustomed to.

The shower had damage and they attempted to seal it but wasn’t successful. The exterior around the headboard looked like it was falling down, you could see where they tried to cover it up with a temporary fix. I spent too much money for a mediocre room, I will never stay there again!!

This was a good property. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were bigger than average and clean. The only thing I did not like, which was not in the Hotel's control, is there is nothing close by like shops or restaurants. You need to get transportation to take you anywhere.
