Great location

Great location. Beach access fantastic. Hotel staff very accommodating. Area a little busy with younger partygoers but still good for young families. Not much options for early breakfast though other than extremely expensive room service

Great hotel, amazing staff, perfect location

I chose the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort for a last minute Mothers Day weekend getaway with my mom. This resort did not disappoint!! Our flight arrrived several hours before check in. They not only let us check in early, but gave us a complimentary ocean-view room upgrade! What a great way to start our vacation. Our room was gorgeous, the view was incredible.. and those beds!! We couldn't get enough! Literally the most comfortable ever. We loved lounging by the pool. There are plenty of chairs, umbrellas if needed, and the Waves pool restaurant is great! The drinks are yummy, we especially loved the triple berry mojiots and the Key Lime Pie frozen one. The guacamole is so good, it's a must try!! Gernie was our favorite server, we requested her everyday!! She went above and beyond, she was awesome! If the pool isn't your scene the beach is right across the street and the Westin is one of the only hotels with a skywalk to cross the street so you can get to the beach without worrying about traffic. The hotel gives you complimentary chairs and towels for the beach if you don't want to rent the ones on the beach for the day. After a long day in the sun, the rooms amentities were great. The shower was new, and they gave PLENTY of towels without having to ask. The location of the hotel was perfect. Just a 5 minute walk from other hotels and restaurants, or a ~10 Uber drive to Las Olas Blvd where the nightlife is! Wanted to say thanks to Krystal at the front desk especially!

The front desk staff(Kristine) went above and beyond to help correct a reservation error that was completely my fault. She was extremely gracious and accommodating as were all the Westin staff members. Great job by all to help salvage our brief stay.

On check-in, I was given a dirty room. I was promptly relocated to a new clean room. My reservation request was for a king bed, but both the dirty and clean room were double beds. My biggest complaint is with the service at the pool. As a resort, the Westin should have a large number of wait staff attending to guests at the pool who are quite anxious to take advantage of the pool side bar and eatery while enjoying their poolside lounging. On both Saturday and Sunday of my visit, the number of wait staff taking care of poolside guests was between 0 and 2. I overheard several of guests around me complaining of the same. I notified the hotel via text messages on both Saturday and Sunday of my concerns, but I saw no corrective action taken. Remember, this hotel is a Westin, and guests pay a resort fee daily.

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us. It was nice to read your headline on how you enjoyed our location, and easy beach access. However, I am very disappointed to hear about the poor arrival experience, and the lack of team members assisting guests by the pool area. This is not typical of our resort, and the high service standards we strive for. We have shared these comments with our Guest Service teams to reassess retraining where needed. We know we are much better than this, and do hope you will give us another opportunity to provide with a true Westin experience if your travels bring you back this way.

Fort Lauderdale

The hotel was nice, the checking in was fast and efficient. One of the problems was I had originally booked a king room, ( supposed to be a romantic getaway) with intercostal view. We were put in a room that faces the other tower, above some kind of equipment that makes a ton of noise 24 hrs a day with 2 DOUBLE beds! So needless to say we slept in separate beds for our romantic getaway. Not cool!!! For 2 of the 4 nights a staff member knocked on my door at 145 am, either giving me towels or sheets I requested ( which I did not!) and the room service was terrible- it took over 1 1/2 hrs to get an omelet at 1130 pm, which I was told would take 25 minutes! when it did arrive....the order was not complete. So I called down for the rest of my meal the told me it was too busy, and they couldn't get it to me. I was told the meal would be comped, but upon receiving the bill it had not been. It was corrected at check out. The hotel is nice, great street bar, the pool was great? The service at the pool bar was amazing!! The room was clean and well kept. It was within close walking to bars, shops and right across the street from the beautiful beach. I would stay here in the future if I was to get what I had originally booked and paid for. It was quite expensive so I was disappointed with what I received!

Hidden fees, outrageous pricing, and outdated room

Posted Apr 4, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: They need to list UPFRONT all of their extra fees so customers know exactly what they're walking into - IF they even want to.
We thought the Westin would be a great option and when we got the booking it was the most affordable on the beach... oh how wrong we were! Their rates look great when compared to others - but AFTER you've booked they give you the fine print, which is that you pay an extra $38 per day in resort fees (+tax) and then $40/day in parking (+tax). So the price that you think you're paying is $100 shy PER DAY of what you're actually going to pay. Please anybody else out there, don't be fooled like we were. The mattress of our bed was CAVED IN. I'm 7mo pregnant and wasn't able to sleep at all the first night and was in so much pain the next morning I could barely walk. They offered to give us a new mattress and when the people came to exchange ours, we saw that underneath the covers it had vomit stains all on the side and was literally in a "C" shape from overuse and never being changed prior. Room was shabby. Breakfast was a whole other thing. Their restaurant offers self-serve continental breakfast only: cold breakfast is $20, hot breakfast is $25. Then they hit you up for a tip. I get that it's a nice hotel and for people who can afford it, but everything just felt like a deception - and greedy. I knew this hotel for years before it became the Westin and my family and I went fairly often. But not anymore. I'll never be going back. Things that were included in the room price before are not "extra" as part of resort fees. Their business practices feel dishonest and outright greedy

Thank you for taking the time to share these comments with us. Please accept our apologies that you weren’t made more aware of our resort and parking fees prior to arrival. We do ensure these are listed throughout our booking channels as we never want a guest to be surprised when arriving. It was disappointing to read about the mattress, as our Heavenly Bed is a very important aspect of the experience. We are looking into this, and will ensure it is corrected. Thank you again for sharing this feedback, and we do hope you will give us another opportunity in the future if your travels bring you back this way.
