Run down!

Posted Apr 29, 2016
Thank goodness we didn't spend much time in the room. Mold on the walls & curtains, chipped paint, rust on bathroom fixtures. Generally in need of an update & a good cleaning. The bikes for guest use were great, beach access was great. Breakfast was ok because we aren't big eaters but not impressive. The pool was closed down for repairs a portion of our stay, very disappointing. Sanibel Island is beautiful place but stay elsewhere!

Nice hotel in a great location in Sanibel

Posted Mar 20, 2016
Pros: We loved the beach and the chairs and umbrellas were great. New bikes arrived the second day of our visit and we enjoyed biking all over the island.
Location: We loved biking for coffee in the morning. Enjoyed shopping at Periwinkle Place. Sanibel is a great place for a beach getaway.
We had a great stay at the Sunset Beach Inn. The pool was excellent, the staff friendly and the location perfect.

2 out of the 4 days they never cleaned the room. After complaining we got clean towels. But we did enjoy the daily breakfast basket,

Unacceptable room accommodations

Posted Mar 17, 2016
The location is great--right on the beach. However, I paid more to have a room with a few and two queen beds. When we checked in, neither was available. Their solutions was that one of us sleep on the floor. Nice. They eventually bought us an air mattress buy were not at all willing to make any type of price adjustment. And the air conditioning in the room couldn't handle the warm spring nights. We prepaid through Expedia. The hotel took our credit card for incidentals and then proceeded to charge us a room rate that was about 15% higher than what Expedia originally quoted. When we told them the room was already paid for, they charged our credit card anyway and said we'd have to figure it out. If you are desperate to be on Sanibel, it's the best you can do for a nightly rate, but our five days there weren't pleasant sleeping.

Great no-frills hotel

Posted Feb 21, 2016
Pros: The kitchenette in our room was so helpful and convenient. It was nice to have use of a gas grill to prepare dinner one evening. Dining out can be $$$
Cons: It's an older property, but well maintained.
Location: Searching for sea shells - they're everywhere! "Ding" Darling wildlife refuge - take the tram, tons of info. Visit Captiva, quaint island.
This hotel has thoughtful amenities that all guests would enjoy. It's nothing fancy, but if you're looking for a welcoming place with its own beach - then this is the place you should book your reservation with. The staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly. We had our 10 year old son with us and he wasn't "bored" the entire week we spent here. Be sure to check out other activities while visiting Sanibel; dolphin cruise - wildlife refuge - take a trip to the Everglades for an airboat adventure - there's more, but I don't want to bore you! We would absolutely return!

Pros: Location
Cons: Staff could be more personable and try to be helpful.
Advertised as kitchenette. Had small college dorm refrigerator. When questioned, they told us they couldn't guarantee what the room looked like because we booked through a third party (Expedia) and not directly through them. . We could see in the rooms all around us that they had full size refrigerators, stoves and microwaves. We were there 11 days and were not offered a different room. Very disappointed!

Pros: The location to ocean, warm pool, hotel staff, & breakfast.
Cons: Nothing I could think of @ the present.
Location: Plenty of ocean(actually Gulf)activities, very nice seafood restaurants;kind of a low-key vacation spot.
Very delightful, relaxing stay right on the water(with door open can hear the waves crashing);liked it so much will be back in March.

Affordable Sanibel Hotel on Beach.

Posted Jan 16, 2016
Pros: Pool, quiet beach.
Cons: Breakfast and bikes.
Location: Captiva was a short car ride away.
We stayed for a week in early January 2016.The hotel is simple and clean with Recent updates to room and bathrooms. Includes small kitchen and screened balcony. The best part of our stay was the incredible pool. Quite large and heated to a nice temperature. We used the bikes which were a bit used but servicable. Breakfast is provided, a small basket of cereal, milk breads, yogurt and orange juice. If you enjoy a good cup of coffee in the morning bring your own!! Those hotel packets always weak!! We enjoyed our stay.

Terrible experience

Posted Jan 2, 2016 on Orbitz
I had the opportunity to stay here in early December 2015. My purpose was to find a seaside escape. The room was dirty. The carpets were stained. The bedding was stained. Yet the most horrible part was that during my three night stay the rooms beside me and above me were being renovated. The noise was unbearable and the management promised to make a concession because of it. They never did, nor did they return numerous calls afterwards. I would never recommend this lodging.

December Getaway

Posted Dec 21, 2015 on Orbitz
We have been staying here for the last 5 years. The staff is great and the amenities are well worth the money spent. This is a wonderful place to get away from the daily hustle and to just relax. The rooms seem to need a little TLC but the beds are always nice and clean as well as the bathroom. I was happy to see that some of the rooms were being recarpeted while we were there.
