My family and I were on vacation to visit Big Bend National Park (Jul 8-10, 2016). Alpine was a city close to the park, so we decided to stay there. This hotel was awful. It wasn't charming. It needs some major upgrades/remodeling done. The room smelled of mildew. We would smell it every time we entered the room. The mattresses were atrocious. They were spring mattresses and you could feel every spring in it! We stayed two nights and my entire body hurt when I woke up. So did my 11 year old. The bed was noisy too. There were dead insects on the bathroom floor and in the tub. The toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned. The fridge was so cold that it froze our food and there was no way to adjust the temperature. The carpet looked like it had not been vacuumed. Good thing we brought our own towels. My reservation listed four people but they only had three towels in there. Other reviews mentioned spotty WiFi. It wasn't even offered to us.
Overall, I would not stay at this hotel again. It was cheap and we absolutely got what we paid for. Location is good in respect to the park. The diner was okay. The food was good but there were so many flies in there and ants on the walls by the windows. Great food, great service, great people - but the bugs. Ugh. Just avoid this hotel if possible.
