If this is a 3-1/2 star hotel, 2* is Stirling Castle dungeon.
Our room, the only one on the ground floor, was next to the restaurant/bar. Hmm. The door didn't seal well to block casual conversations in the hall, which was old, stained, and worn out. The room didn't match the listing (space or furnishings) & the mattress bottomed-out when I sat on the edge. Condition 1/5
I went out to run, my wife tried to take a shower. Oops, no soap (or any amenities). She got dressed, went to the front desk. Got a bar of soap, went into the shower and... no hot water. Got dressed, back to front desk. Several visits by hotel staff, the problem was traced to "someone left the hot water running elsewhere." Which they seemed to think was our problem -- "Hot water will come back in a few hours."
"OK, get us another room."
"There are none. We could give you a "pod" (outside cabins)."
"Umm, we saw those, no thanks!" Service 1/5.
Eventually she showered in a pod/cabin room, & returned to our assigned room. But had to walk through the main dining room(!) to get to the pod. Then back (with wet hair). Any woman would enjoy that, right?
I came back from my run to the same routine (by direct outside route, when I pointed it out).
Bed comfort was... as feared. Comfort 1/5.
To be fair, breakfast was quite good.
At checkout, we requested a discount for our experience. Much waving of hands, "I can't do that, you'll have to e-mail."
Manager? "Not here." Somehow I wasn't surprised.
