Had a flying visit from UK for 5 nights to taste some World Cup atmosphere including the Uruguay Costa Rica game. I was a bit unsure of the hotel at first when I walked down a dark corridor to what appeared, as previous reviewer has noted, a fairly basic looking room. But there was no need to worry, it was a perfect choice and I had a brilliant stay. The room had a minibar, safe, good air-con, great shower and I slept well.
The big positives of this hotel are:
Superb location – it is halfway along the Beira Mar tourist strip. Ideal to simply cross the road for a stroll on the sandy beach.
Free wifi kept me in contact and saved a packet on my phone bill.
4 bottles of water provided free daily, very useful as it was so hot and humid in the evening.
Breakfast – very pleasant on the terrace and plenty of choice including freshly made omelettes to order.
Pool. Long enough to swim a few lengths or, one of my highlights, sitting in the water watching one of the games on the screen above the pool bar.
I had a 3rd floor room with balcony overlooking pool which was nice. Newer taller buildings surround the hotel so I don’t know what the other rooms were like. There was a power cut on one of the first days but this was fixed within a few hours.
