Very nice beach

Posted Jan 5, 2017
I paid extra for an ocean view room, however, it was looking out at the trapeze and you had to walk out to actually see the ocean. It was a little disappointing so we asked if we could get changed to a real ocean view room and after a couple of nights they were able to accommodate us and give us an ocean front room. Overall, the stay was great. Kuddos to Lorenzo for Putting together the great entertainment every single day and making sure everyone enjoyed their stay.

The Staff Makes the Difference at Viva Wyndham FPO

Posted Jan 4, 2017
Pros: The staff -- leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling. They love what they do and are kind with guests. They are also incredibly talented performers.
Cons: The resort needs some upgrading. Beds and sheets are or at least feel 'old.' The theme restaurants were not as good as they should have been.
Location: Location is great. Fortuna beach is close to downtown, the Lucaya marketplace and the East End national park and beaches.
The best things about this resort are [1] the location right on Fortuna Beach, which is a beautiful and tranquil white sand beach, and [2] the super staff who go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. The group of young multinational and multilingual resort directors and coordinators at Viva are really special. They do it all. They put on a nightly show including acrobatics and dance that they perform themselves with verve and enthusiasm. They also work their tails off during the day operating the resort and accommodating and entertaining guests (including teaching people how to use the on-site trapeze) and they manage to keep a smile and a good attitude through it all. The people make this place what it is. Without them, it would just be OK. The rooms are a little tired, beds a little old, sheets a little scratchy...but if you are not one who needs to be in the lap of luxury, the Viva is a fun and laid back place to really and truly relax. The essentials are not lacking though. AC worked in the room and the shower had hot water. There are no pretensions here. It is family friendly and right on the beach. I would return despite the shortcomings in terms of modernity or 'perfectness' of the accommodations. The food is decent, although I liked the buffet better than the "special" restaurants. Good variety and if you stick to the simple stuff, it's healthy and acceptable (steamed broccoli, fruits, potatoes, coffee, pastries...). Overall thumbs up.

First time in Bahamas

Posted Dec 23, 2016
Pros: All inclusive amenities along with quiet and safe environment
Cons: Housekeeping
Location: We did not leave the resort
Enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The hotel reopened 3 days prior to our arrival due to a natural disaster. It was evident that the staff and contractors were working hard to return to normalcy. The dinner reservations could have been more accessible.

Cons: Attention to details....ie fresh towels daily; timely room cleanings-not wait until 5pm. Making sure outlets/thermostats secured in the walls
Location: All the Bahamas has to offer.....fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, diving, gardens, fish fry etc. Especially absolutely heavenly waters
It is a Beach Resort right on the beach; plenty of food & drink

Best vacation ever

Posted Aug 11, 2016
Pros: All inclusive right on the beautiful beach
Cons: Bathrooms in the rooms could be updated. Also more shade areas on the beach.
Location: Beautiful location. Lots of water sports and casinos near by
Had a fantastic time. Great family vacation. Beach and water are beautiful. Water sports were so much fun. Food was also great. Loved the beach bar. Loved being able to eat whenever and whatever. So much to do. Staff was so friendly. They went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having fun. They called the room every night to ask if we needed anything. Our room could use some updating, especially the bathroom, but it was clean, and quiet. The gardens are beautiful. I think the only problem with the whole week was that people would "claim" the beach lounge chairs under the umbrellas or cabanas and it was difficult to get a shady spot on the beach if you weren't there by 8 AM. Seemed like most people just left their towels there and weren't even hanging out on the beach. That was a little annoying. Would love to visit again.

An overpriced resort

Posted Aug 2, 2016
This is the worst all inclusive resort we have ever stayed at. The all inclusive part is a joke. 1 complimentary bottle of warm water and the rest must be purchased. Rooms are basically equivalent to a cheap Motel 6. The grounds were unkept and the staff was lazy & rude. Fortunately we found rooms available elsewhere and moved after 2 days.

Only positive thing is it's a beach front hotel

Posted Jul 27, 2016
The room was very outdated, tiny portable fridge on the floor, the bathroom needed work, the balcony door was broken and wouldn't close all the way, the bed kept creaking every time you moved and the air conditioning needed work as it was either super freezing or super hot, no in between which sucked. The water in the shower was only cold, there was no warm or hot water to shower with during our three nights there. Now the food at the buffet was worse than I thought it would be, raw potatoes, raw pasta, only pizza and pasta every night, over cooked/soggy veggies. The variety they had everyday for breakfast, lunch and dinner was not great at all. You had to get up for your own drinks, usually at resorts you are served drinks so this was a first. The people were nice but I was very disappointed with the food and hotel room. Only positive thing about this trip is the short walk to the beach. Also this resort only had Sands Bahamian beer and no other beers which also sucked. I had stayed at the Memories Resort in Bahamas back in December 2014 and it was wonderful! The food there was amazing and the beach and the hotel room and the people were so sweet so that's where I recommend people to book with, not this hotel!!!
