Perfect place to stay in the French Quarters

Posted Feb 15, 2018
Pros: Comfort of the rooms, location.
Cons: The breakfast, it would have been nice to have cereal too.
Location: French Quarters, New Orleans.. in the heart of all that is fun!
Beautiful courtyard and a perfect location in the French Quarters.. The beds were very comfortable and the staff was great! I would most definitely stay there again.

Great Location

Posted Feb 9, 2018
Stayed here for 6 nights in the week leading up to Mardi Gras and can not rate it highly enough. Fantastic location, so close to everything, right in the middle of the French Quarter. Even though it was close to Bourban and Royal St the rooms were quiet. The beds were extremely comfortable. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Good Hotel near Jackson Square, New Orleans

Posted Jan 20, 2018
Pros: The location, staff and atmosphere.
Cons: The continental breakfast could have offered more selections and tea bags cold be made available in the rooms with the coffee maker.
Location: We were half a block off Jackson Square, right in the heart of the Frendh Quarter - and excellent location for creole food and jazz music.
The Place de Armes was a wonderful hotel. The staff and facilities were excellent. Because of the hard freeze and cold temperatures in New Orleans during our visit, there were difficulties with water and staffing, but the hotel was gracious, helping us and all the guests adapt, and continued to provide excellent service. For us, the mark of a well-staffed hotel is their response in emergencies. The Place de Armes staff responded well.

Experienced the French Quarter without the Noise

Posted Jan 17, 2018
Pros: Above all, I loved the location and quiet/cozy feel of the hotel.
This hotel is within steps of Jackson Square but we weren't bombarded with the sounds of the French Quarter. The room was cozy and clean. I did leave with a pretty nasty bruise, my foot caught the raised threshold going into the bathroom. We had a slight issue shortly after checking in, one of the members of the hotel staff entered the room without knocking. She was apologetic and shut the door promptly. While we did not get to enjoy the courtyard due to weather conditions I was pleased by the overall aesthetics. I felt the hotel did an excellent job of updating the hotel while keeping the original charm. This charm could especially be seen in the breakfast room with the hand carved wood and painted tiles. Each morning there was a small assortment of pastries and coffee as part of the free continental breakfast. There never seemed to be enough seating for the guests in the morning/breakfast room to enjoy the pastries and coffee, we cut our morning coffee short several times to allow for other guests to sit down and enjoy their own cup of coffee. The courtyard would have been an excellent place to enjoy the coffee but as mentioned before the weather was not accommodating. I was also informed by one of the staff members at breakfast that the only fruit pastries left were the blueberry; however, as I was leaving the breakfast room there was an assortment of other fruit pastries put out. The overall demeanor of the breakfast room attendant was not very hospitable.

Perfect location

Posted Jan 10, 2018
This hotel is in the perfect location. It is only a couple of blocks from Bourbon Street and a couple of blocks from the river/Jackson Square. While it is obviously an old property, you won't notice any amenties missing other than an elevator. The room was just like any other hotel. The only thing we had a little problem with was getting the temp just right. We didn't get restocked with toilet paper one day but one call to the front desk and it was taken care of promptly. We had booked a room with no windows because that's all they had left but they upgraded us to one with windows overlooking the courtyard. Not much to look at when we were there (New Years Eve weekend) but I can image it's beautiful in warm weather. Didn't notice any noise from the street. Parking is a little tricky in that there is no option other than valet but someone is always there and they bring your car down quickly. There are a few spots on the entry level but the rest are put on a "vehicle elevator" that goes up. If you have a lifted vehicle you will want to check measurements. Ours barely made it (antenna scraped ceiling). I would highly recommend this hotel, especially if are looking for something convenient to all the major sights.
