About this property

River Access, Large Backyard, and Fireplace!

Historic vacation home in Three Rivers
Escape from reality and enjoy the sophistication, peace, and serenity of the River Oaks House. The desertscape in front belies the quiet sophistication and river forest views you will experience as you enter this special year-round vacation home. Step in the front door and you are inspired with the openness, 20 foot tall wood ceilings, abundance of natural light, the massive stone fireplace, and the calming influence of natural wood, stone, and muted colors in the home. Open the wall of French doors to enjoy the forest behind the house. Wander down to the nearly year-round river and plant a chair right in the water when it is running low, or sit on the bank below oak and eucalyptus trees and catch up on reading, enjoy a beverage, or just appreciate the wildlife and sounds of the river. Drive 15 minutes up the highway to the park entrance to hike, enjoy the views, or cross country ski in Sequoia or Kings Canyon National Parks, knowing at the end of the day, you have a hot shower and peaceful retreat waiting for you. Enjoy meals indoors, outdoors on the adjacent patio, or down by the river. Fire up the barbecue in the covered breezeway year round or enjoy the premium Jenn-Air, Viking, and GE Monogram appliances in the chef’s kitchen. Light the massive wood fireplace during the winter to enjoy the warmth of a crackling fire combined with the sounds of the river pounding in the back yard. Later, retire to the spacious master bedroom loft suite, while hosting kids or guests in the downstairs bedroom. The Master bedroom is an open walled loft with a king size bed, so privacy is limited. There is also has a bathroom and a small seating area for watching television. The loft does offer a full size futon which can be used as a third bed. The bathroom is a tub/shower combination which only has privacy shades for the doors. The bedroom on the main floor is completely private with a queen size bed. There is also a private entrance from the bedroom into this lower level bathroom. The lower level bathroom does have a entry from the living room area also. Should you desire complete focus, escape from all the electronic interruptions and enjoy the mountain ambiance to concentrate on reading or work. Or connect with your own DSL WiFi internet hub. HD satellite Direct TV is available for your entertainment, as well as a Denon whole-house sound system. The house was rebuilt by Jules Construction and includes new appliances, new cabinetry, new dual-pack air conditioning and propane heating, new double-pane windows, custom hand-scraped oak floors, wool carpeting, sophisticated tile, colors, cotton and wood window covers, new roof, skylights, electrical, and whole house UPS (uninterruptable power supply). Full size washer and dryer are available for longer stays. Enjoy the convenience of a well-stocked general store with a real butcher counter a mile away and a community water supply with the best-tasting water (and coffee or tea) you have had in a long time. The River Oaks House on more than half an acre of paradise awaits your visit.

    River Oak

Wonderfully quiet and an excellent location as our home base and really comfortable and relaxing. Enjoyed the wild life as well.

Ok location, not great layout or amenities

The fireplace and access to river are awesome, the location is nice and the cabin was easy to access. The upstairs loft is a giant open space with two beds and a bathroom with no doors. (The host did email us letting us know about this before we got there, but I do not feel the pictures accurately represent this in the listing.) We could not get the upstairs shower to work. And the second “bed” was more of a futon and not comfortable to sleep on. There was no salt or olive oil in the kitchen, and only three coffee mugs. The surround sound stereo also did not work. It worked for our needs and I had a nice time with my family and the living space was comfortable, but would not stay there again.

      4/5 Good

Nice! Close to park and restaurants! Neat outside! Super quiet

        Clean, quiet and comfortable!

        5/5 Excellent

          Wonderful, clean

Wonderful, clean, Convenient to the parks. Of course we weren’t at the house much, we were out and about after we made breakfast in the wonderful kitchen, till dark. We brought dinner back to the house to eat there at the house. The beds were very comfortable, we all slept like logs. The view out the back sliders was nice, we didn’t see any wild animals though. Would we do it again, yes absolutely!

          5/5 Excellent

            Great Property, enjoyed our stay

We spent 4 nights at the property and really enjoyed the stay there. the Kids really had fun with lot of area in the backyard to run around. Were disappointed that there was no water in the River behind the property, but that is mostly because we stayed during the summer. There was a nice village market nearby where you can get almost all supplies. Would love to come back and stay again at the property.
