In dire need of some TLC
If it wasn't for the stunning view from the balcony and the comfy bed I would have been very disappointed. The rooms are in urgent need of refurbishment to meet the standards expected at the price they charge. Here are my main gripes; No bath robes (only slippers - why?) No tea/coffee facilities Radiators don't work properly, have to use noisy ancient aircon on high to heat the room. No sockets take universal adaptors in the room, only socket that does is the shaver socket in the bathroom. Not ideal to charge electrical items on the sink! Bath stained and chipped as are the tiles. Shaving mirror hinge broken, hangs down from the wall Useless hairdryer attached to the wall, yellowed with age, casing cracked and noisy. Lamp wiring cracked and 'fixed' with tape. The saving grace was the balcony and comfy bed. Tip for the proprietor: Upgrade rooms and balconies - add outside lighting,quality table and chairs and a heater for winter months. This would allow customers to make the most of the view and want to make a return visit

Oh, so comfy beds with an amazing view!
One of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in! Lovely, pillows and duvets. Some parts of the accommodation are a little tired, but this did not distract from the overall welcome and feel of bonhomie in the hotel. The employees, without exception, were courteous, cheerful and made us feel valued. The view from the balcony was everything we'd hoped, location is great.

FSNTASTIC VIEWS
We had an amazing room on the 5th floor with a view out over Lake Geneva. Comfortable bed and s great breakfast was slap a plus sling with a fantastic indoor swimming pool. Very helpful, positive, friendly staff. Decor and specifically the carpet are tired and require urgent attention and this spoils what could be an outstanding belle époche hotel.

The hotel was nice and staff were great. The free WiFi was fast. The hotel's location was convenient to the train and walking distance to everything. The view of the mountains and water was the best from the balcony. We had a loud/rude guest in the next room that we could hear through a connecting door. The front desk called the room and requested the guest keep the noise down which only caused the guest to become more obnoxious. I called the front desk for a room change. We had a new room/key within 5 minutes. The issue was resolved by the room change. Great service and hotel.

FADED GLORY COMING BACK WITH TREMENDOUS VISTA
This is very old. mostly renovated, super gourmet and very expensive Swiss restaurant in a luxury setting in the lobby area. This is an old grand hotel now refurbished as a health resort. Empty rooms are rented to the public...but...amazingly, all rooms have a HUGE stone private terrace overlooking Lake Geneva with a table and chairs. Heat is a problem with floor to ceiling French doors which are not air tight, but large tile bathrooms and nice amenities. Polite staff, and with wifi and parking free, this is a buy for a 3.8 or maybe 4 star hotel. During the jazz festival and ski and summer seasons prices triple....beware that Hotels.com prepaid rates do not inclue modest tax of about $8 a day at check out.

Not so luxury hotel, but you sure pay for it.
Our first impression was that the hotel was old. We were hoping for a more modern hotel and it was difficult to tell from the photos. Maybe this is a historic hotel. The floors creak, the decor was outdated, and they probably need to clean or just replace the curtains, as we found a stain on our them. I've never stayed in a 4 star that didn't really feel like luxury, until this one. The view is what you pay for at this hotel, not the room. The staff was great though. I emailed them and asked for the champagne and rose petals to be set up before our arrival and they did a great job! The negative about this is that the rose petals were fake, which may be normal, I don't know. This is the first time I've asked for this service. As for the champagne, they gave me two options and I chose the "cheaper" of the two, which was still 130 euro. We just happened to see the same bottle of champagne in a store down the street for 44 euro. As best I could tell it was the same, so if that's true, they charge 300% of the original price. Needless to say, I won't ever do that again. The area is nice and it is absolutely beautiful. Next time we will look for a different hotel on the lake to enjoy the view from.

Lakeview hotel in between train station and castle
Quite impressed by decoration especially in the reception lobby. Room size matches expectation. Washroom just average. Small balcony adds quite some marks. Free storage of luggage. A little far from public bus stop (some 12 minutes over walking distance).

I have stayed at cleaner hostels than this hotel.
Upon check-in, no one helped us with our bags. When we first used our sink, it clogged and instead of fixing it, they gave us the key to another room to use the sink. Having a baby with us, this was incredibly unpractical. To be honest, all this could have been over-looked if it wasn't for the fact that the hotel was incredibly dirty. There was a dead bug on our sheets and peeling paint and rusted balcony. The view is spectacular, but we couldn't even enjoy it because there was construction in the morning that made it impossible to step outside to enjoy it. I know as Americans, we can be neat freaks, but even by European standards I don't think this hotel can be ranked better than 2 stars. It has the facade of what was likely a lovely and stately hotel but in decades past.

Gorgeous Hotel
It was our last stop from a 1 week trip to Italy. Lovely staff and great view of Lac Leman. The location was beautiful and quality of the hotel was great. We will love to visit again.

We had a room on the 5th floor with fantastic views of lake Geneva. Great location as it is right on the walking path along the lake... Which you can swim in. Rooms are large and clean. Did not go to the pool. The only thing I would suggest is new carpeting. The hotel is old and unite luxurious at one time but the carpets are worn and dated. Didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on the food. We were able to find parking in front of the hotel. The hotel has a few spots but usually full

Staff pleasant but service could be better.
I spent one night and asked for an extra bed for my daughter; they forgot to give us extra towels; no big deal but, what bothered me more is that I called several times the reception for about 30 minutes to get some information and no one picked up the phone; then, I went down to see them, and had to wait as no one was there (another gentlemen was also waiting!) ; in addition, I asked for a boiler and never got it, and what is is more serious, I had asked a wake-up call at 5:45 as I had to catch a plane, and they did not even bothered to do it!

Gracious hotel,with amazing view
It,was a perfect stopover between Italy and Paris. We loved the location of,the hotel with postcard views. Enjoyed our walk along the lake to,the castle. Had dinner both nights at the hotel and found the food first rate. Front desk staff most helpful. Shame everything is so much more expensive in Switzerland with Australian dollar.

Classy, large room with a wonderful view of Lake Geneva. The bed was extremely comfortable with good quality sheets and pillows. The hotel itself has a huge array of beautiful antiques and a lovely patio. Highly recommend!

It was a very bad experience in such a beautiful town the worst hotel i have stayed yet ,no wifi at all room was very old we stayed for three nights and even toiletries not proper would never recommend anyone, there was a knocking sound at night ,many mosquitos couldn't sleep for one night also .

It was a very bad experience,the staff were ok but all of them lied for wifi they didn't had any wifi suffered a lot due to this and the toiletries in room were bot proper we stayed there for three nights and every day some toiletries were missing no soap one day ,the other day no shower cap etc ... and above all there were so much noise from behind the room were very old and so much mosquitos in the room ,it was a horrible experience,the only good thing about this hotel was their breakfast thats it would necer recommend anyone to go here after being so expensive so bad service.

Very Good Hotel But....
Four stars plus for this hotel. Beautiful, spacious rooms, air conditioning, excellent wi-fi reception, services very good. All rooms face the lake, and the views are second-to-none in Montreux. The only negative--but it's a significant one--is its location on the far eastern side of Montreux. If you do not have your own transportation, you'll need a cab from/to the train station. There are no nearby restaurants, but the walks to the closest ones are not terribly onerous. On the plus side, its location is great if you are walking to the Chillon Castle, a must-see on any visit to Montreux. I like this hotel, and it is a good value for the price.

Very good but the management is so stingy.... 1-No welcome card in your room 2-Not even 1 mineral water bottle 3-No coffee facilities in the room and 4) In the buffet breakfast that we paid for, we were asked to pay in addition for a third cup of coffee that we intended to drink!!!!!!! Never seen that and never heard about that anywhere in the world

A fantastic find.
We only stayed here for one night passing through Montreux, but would definitely stay here again, for a lot longer. The foyer is stunning in marble, large comfortable bed and the views are breathtaking from the balcony. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Local Riviera card is invaluable for discounts to many sightseeing places and valid on public transport too. The hotel is situated in quiet grounds, overlooking the lake and 10 mins walk away from the centre of Montreux.

1) We requested a non-smoking room when we booked, which was provided for us on the fifth floor of the building.2) For everyone who is a non-smoker, very unfortunately, this does NOT guarantee that at any time you are in your room, you will not have to suffer the effects of cigarette smoke. a)We were awakened from sleep during the wee hours on several occasions by stinking cigarette smoke floating into our room through the open balcony door from the floor below. We had left the balcony door open in order to have the fresh, lovely lake breeze during the night whilst sleeping. Needless to say, we had to close the door and sleep in a stifling room in order to keep out the cigarette smoke. b) We also experienced the same unfortunate circumstance whilst attempting to have a light lunch on the balcony one afternoon, whilst viewing Lake Geneva. c) For those folks who are still ignorant about the effects of cigarette smoke, or do not care about fellow human beings, this is a wonderful opportunity to puff away-you will be permitted to smoke away on your balcony and offend everyone else around you without any concerns at all!d) For those folks who take exception to ciggy smoke - too bad! You have paid for a room and are now being ripped off because no one cares about your health or preference for breathing relatively clean air! e) BTW, believe it or not, this hotel is owned and operated by Biotonus, a health clinic!

Wonderful views
Our room was on the 5th floor. We had a wonderful view over the lake. A nice balcony - the chairs had cushions and the table had a cloth. It was quiet. The room was a good size . The bathroom was large and included a bathtub and a bidet. I thought the room had character- it was definitely dated but it went with the style of the hotel. I liked it because the whole hotel felt like it was from a different era. It was clean and the service was good. Don't expect ultra modern. The desk staff were friendly and helpful. Their English was good. We did not got to breakfast so I can't comment on that. You can walk right out of the hotel onto the lake side walkway. It was really beautiful with lovely flowers. You can walk to Castle Chillon along the lake. If it is too far for you to walk back you can easily hop on a tram. But the path is flat all the way - suitable for baby strollers. The hotel gives you a card for free travel on the local transportation. It is a 20 minute walk to the station- trains to many places. The card gives you a discount on some trains. You can catch a train to the Leveaux terraces. There is a paddle boat cruise around the lake from Montreux but it takes a few hours. Altogether we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel the view from our room was priceless. I would definitely stay there again.

Great room and Balcony - BEWARE of the Coffee
We booked a deluxe room with lake view - the room was newly renovated in nice natural tones & had a really gorgeous balcony right on the lake. The room was really nicely appointment with everything in it we needed. We enjoyed the quieter location. The inside of the Hotel far exceeds the exterior which is embarrasingly shabby,peeling paint rust stains etc.. must admit when we arrived we both thought "Oh No" .. We ordered 2 coffees & 1 Omelette for Breakfast which we had in our room .. upon checkout we thought there had been a mistake with the bill as it showed CHF 20.00 for the 2 coffees - This is totally unacceptable for drip filter bad tasting coffee ! After this our happy satidfied mood changed to a somewhat feeling of being ripped off. I hope the hotel takes this feedback on board.

Graciously faded Victorian Hotel, on the lakeside
Superb position on the lakeside with lovely views. Our room on the 3rd floor faced the lake and had small balcony with table and 2 chairs. The room was very large, with ample storage space, minibar, air conditioning and comfortable chairs. The ensuite bathroom was well appointed, double washbasins, bath with shower over, bidet and loo, and always plenty of hot water. Staff were friendly and efficient, housekeeping especially so, changing linen and plentiful towels daily. Buffet breakfasts (included in our deal) were generous with abundant choices, cooked bacon, sausages, eggs, breads, pastries, fruit, yoghurt, meats and salads and more. Big bonus was the free use of the superb swimming pool, sauna, and fitness room.

Quite Grand Hotel
I love staying in this hotel while working in Montreux, rooms have a wonderful view, are modern and clean and air conditioned. It's a quite old style hotel with a pool, the staff is very helpful. It's a little walk from the train station, I reccommend taking a taxi to the hotel if you have a lot of luggage. They have only a few parking spaces. Breakfast is good.

The staff at check in was very friendly and helpful with parking. The receptionist explained us where we could park and lent us a parking disk. The room could us some updating but who cares with such an amazing view. We were on the 5th floors and had a balcony so it was very peaceful. The room was very big with an extremely confortemly bed, pillows and duvet cover. I highly recommend the buffet breakfast. It was delicious and the waitress was very helpful. The hotel location is great right between chateau Chillon and the centre of Montreux. The walk along the lake is very very pleasant.

it is ok
the room is big and the hotel view for the lake is nice. However, there is no breadfast include in the room rate, need to pay additionally. The hotel faclitity itself is good but lack of maintanance. The staff in the reception should provide more training. They are not so helpful. I heard they replied guest enquiries about the information of the city, but they only reply " you can find it the book, we dont know too much." I stay for 2 days, but the visitor card which could allow me to take the bus free of charges, the staff printed it only vaild for 1 day. As I checked and then they amended. It reflected that the staff is not so professsional and always make careless mistakes.

Paradise
Third time staying here, hoping to return in future. An oasis away from the busy part of town, but easy walk or bus ride to central Montreux. Lovely indoor pool, gorgeous mountain view from private balcony, helpful and courteous staff. I totally love this place and could easily stay here much more if time and money permitted it. Recommended!

Beautiful hotel with breathtaking views
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our spacious elegant room had a lakeside balcony with amazing views. Breakfast was plentiful too and served in view of more stunning scenery. The only downside was having to leave! Would love to return someday.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL
Hotels.com cheated us...I booked the higher category room As it was supposed to be bigger, as per the hotels.com website the room size was supposed to be 38sq.meter, but it was approx 28 sq.meter, and I paid substantially higher to book this room. When I checked with the hotel they said they cannot take responsibility of what hotels.com put on their website. The hotel service was extremely poor, the staff was rude and unhelpful. The breakfast was unappetizing . The ratings of the hotel on hotels.com are deceiving

Great location for a visit to Montreux. Fabulous pool for the kids. Nice dinner in the restaurant.

Great place for a couple
This is a lovely grand old hotel. The staff were nice enough to allocate the top floor in the middle looking out on the lake so we were in a great position. the wifi was great parking no trouble on the street at the front of the hotel and the bed was very comfy. Lovely place to get away to :):):)
