Rooms are big, clean and comfortable. The staff is also very nice and helpful and breakfast is very good too. The best thing about this hotel is the location as it is in a very quiet block next to a park so I couldn't hear any city noises from my room, but it is just a few blocks away from a sector full of great bars and restaurants. The only problem was that the cooling solution in the room wasn't very effective so during my stay with 32~33°C outside it was a bit too hot inside. Other than that I really enjoyed my stay and will certainly stay there again when I visit Berlin.

We are currently working on a new concept that also includes air conditioning. In the meantime, we have installed sunscreen foils in a few rooms facing the street. Was in Berlin during an extremely busy week. Decided to stay overnight and it was 3pm already. Hard to find any hotel available because there were several events in the city that week. Book this hotel because we needed a family room and could not find anything else. Somewhat concerned that no one else booked it. Turns out it was really good. Easy to find parking in the area. Room was nice and clean. They make the family room decorated a bit fun for the kids with a large stuffed animal on the bed. We were lucky to find this place. Walking distance to many restaurants, a supermarket and East Side Gallery. Hotel reception was very friendly.

Great location for the venue we visited, nice spacious room, helpful staff. Need better pillows and was disappointed that tea , coffee and sugar wasnt replenished daily, we had to ask on several occasions for this.

We liked the location near to the S- Bahn and an excellent Italian . The hotel was quiet and the rooms reasonable in size and clean. Roof terrace is nice . Would book there again

No A/C in 32 degrees with rooms that absorb heat
It was hotter in our room than outside both at night and during the day. More than 31 degrees inside a room is unacceptable. We couldn't sleep and staying in the room for anything other than sleeping was not possible. Never again.

Great Hotel.
This is my third stay and excellent as always. Breakfast is buffet with lots of choices. Plenty of restaurants locally which are good value . Good transport links that takes you to anywhere in Berlin and direct to Potsdam from nearby S Bahn station. This also takes you direct to Schönefeld Airport.

This was the second time we had stayed in the Upstalsboom. We were visiting family close by so did not spend much time in the hotel. However, I would like to thank the reception staff; they were very helpful, pleasant gave a warm welcome. Breakfast was good, plenty to choose from and in a pleasant, airy room. Unfortunately we were in Berlin in the middle of a heatwave and that meant the bedroom was extremely warm. There was a fan in the room which helped but air conditioning would have been preferable. Overall, a very pleasant stay and I would recommend the hotel.

Pleasant 4 night stay, great breakfast
I stayed at the 6th floor in a room facing the street. Overall check-in experience was pretty smooth. The main issue I had is that the room would overheat during the day due to the direct sunlight. Since there is no AC, I had to deal with a fan, opening the windows at night, etc. That's probably only relevant if you are staying May to Sep. The hotel is at an intersection of two small streets, so it is pretty quiet. Staff was really nice and breakfast has a lot of variety. Overall the hotel was convenient and besides the temperature issue, I was pretty happy with it. Lots of restaurants around.

Well located for the Kosmos conference venue but otherwise distinctly average. My room featured twin beds (not the double I booked), a dirty towel, empty boxes instead of toiletries and no air conditioning. Breakfast room could also be bigger as it’s hard to get a table at 8am. Overall not awful but there must be better choices.

Great family hotel.
We had an awesome stay at the hotel. The area is a little hipster for a young family but close to all the transport lines. We stayed over Easter and the bunny left some chocolate for the children.....such a great touch.

Although a bit further out of the centre great location to see more of the city. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Great to have breakfast times over a longer time period and a great selection of food on offer mainly cold breakfast but fresh and tasty.

When we first arrived we thought we had made a bad decision however later de iced it had pros and cons. Pros - close proximity to two different U Bahn lines as well as S Bahn - decent price - quiet rooms - small but decent breakfast Cons - extremely small fitness facility - I paid extra to have a room that contained a safe but it was not even big enough to put my iPad in - the television was only about 20”
