Nice hotel. Great small Town. Poor english speaker

Posted Nov 9, 2017
Pros: We liked the gardens, the most, and the restaurant. Couldn`t see the banquet area. You have to stay 2 nights to really enjoy the gardens
Cons: The roos are simple, small, unless you pay higher rate
Location: The hotel is situated in the upper part of the town. Walk away by the gardens to downtown to see the attractions of the city. Very few english spoken
A friend recommended us the restaurant of the hotel so we started our trip in Fulda at the Maritim Hotel. The gardens are great. The main building is also beautiful, use for banquets. But the rooms are located on a side area, so you don`t really sleep in the ancient building. The restaurant is located in the basement, a real cavern, very nice. No wifi there. The food is just good. The staff is very kind, not very good english spoken. I wish the staff had told us about the walking tours offered by the tourist information office to visit the city. By the time we found out about the guided tours, the office had closed and we miss the explanation of the city. Which is beautiful. Much more than we expected. The Cathedral very interesting. The Michaelskirche is unique, beautiful. Couldn`t visit the episcopal Palace. Very much to see.

Good Place

Posted Oct 23, 2017
Pros: Overall, the hotel very much suited my needs and was a good return on the cost.
Cons: Train the male staff to respect women. Somehow make the food presentation in the morning more workable.
Location: Great location in the park. Sunday included a morning of brass band music and an afternoon of people watching.
Spending five nights at the Maritim enhanced our trip to Germany. The location of the hotel in the center of Fulda was lovely with the beautiful gardens and quiet view off the balcony very peaceful. The convenience of the parking on site made our daily outings much easier. Being within walking distance to the center of historic Fulda really pleasant. The cleaning staff was very considerate of our needs. The design of the room with a entry/storage/bath all able to be closed off from the sleeping quarters made my habit of early rising much more palatable for my companion. Even though there was a major wedding on Saturday night, I heard no noise because of the room design. However, the male desk clerks have not had sensitivity training on dealing with women. When "Herr Doctor, Professor Whomever" interrupted my discussion with the clerk, I suddenly disappeared from the mix until "Herr Doctor" was satisfied. This is unacceptable in this day and age. Not surprisingly, the women on the desk were always helpful and pleasant. Likewise I found the breakfast setup most confusing. While the setting is elegant, locating the various offerings of grain, meat, fruits and vegetables was a challenge. I felt like a "hunter/gatherer" as I tried to find my choices. Each morning things had been rearranged, so whatever I had learned the day before was of no use. The other guests seemed to be equally confused

Beautiful Hotel.

I enjoyed the overall setting of the Maritim Hotel am Schlossgarten because it is located within beautiful gardens and very near the old town attractions. There is also a very good restaurant there with terrace dining overlooking the gardens.

Double bills it's patrons

Posted Aug 4, 2017
Pros: Location and quite. On Schloss garden grounds.
Cons: Go to a key card system. The room key is large and heavy. Troublesome when one hikes around Fulda.
Location: Location was great - across from Dom, next to city center.
Hotel was fine. Location was beautiful and staff was friendly, but none of that is of any value if the hotel is going to double bill it's patrons (once on expedia and once at the time of check out). I am trying to get a refund from the hotel. If I do then I will change the rating.

Baroque elegance

Posted May 1, 2016
Pros: Location, and its attentive but quiet management.
Cons: Everything was fine.
Location: The Schlossgarten is immediately outside - leading to the Schloss, the Dom, St Michael's church. Walk to the Frauenberg strongly recommended!
A modern hotel but with a Baroque Orangery as its breakfast room, and a view across the gardens to the Schloss. It was also a conference venue but for small, discreet groups. We were sad to leave.

a bit pricye, but well located

Posted Oct 3, 2015 on Hotels
A bit on the pricey side. Lobby is open to all the rooms so even a low volume conversation can disturb other guests at night. Wifi doesn't work in many rooms, but works fine in lobby.
