We were only there for a one night layover midway to Miami. The dining room was short staffed as waitresses also had to deliver room service. They were good spirited about their inconvenience.

"We have no towels",

Posted Aug 10, 2015
Pros: Location, that's all
Cons: Laundry, pool, elevator, new ice machines, some coffee in the lobby, a working vent in the bathroom. That's a start.
Location: Very near University of Florida and Shands hospitals
While moving my daughter down to grad school at UF in August, the heat index was well over 100degrees. The day we moved her property from truck to 3rd fl. apt, we returned to hotel after 6pm to shower and have dinner. The maid had made the bed, taken all the dirty towels and washrags from the floor and left none. No towels, no washcloths, no kleenix in empty dispenser ( I had bad head cold 1st morning I woke up in hotel) . Heck the tub was not cleaned.. So I called front desk to ask for some towels to shower. There wasn't any, anywhere. They offered to bring a couple pool towels, ( 1/2 size thin mini towels that are not offered by the pool) but they seriously could not find or wash any towels until we got home from dinner after 9 pm. This "hotel" has no perks other than good location. This place is old, tired, and in need of major repair. (e.g. Out of 3 floors , the ice machine only works on 2nd floor. The dead ice machines on floors 1 and 3 never worked, had a sign or repaired in the 5 days we reserved. No ice in Gainesville in August. I could go on and on but why bother. The staff are not unpleasant, just useless and experienced at apologizing for a dying hotel. Good luck

It is very good place near UF, kind services, and good price. I'm surely this hotel is the best place to rest for newcomers.

one night stay

Posted Jul 22, 2015
Pros: clean, comfortable, affordable
Location: close to University
I found the room to be very clean. The bed was firmer than what I normally sleep on, but I found it surprisingly comfortable. Air conditioning worked great. I got the deluxe room so that I could be assured of a view of the lake. My husband was thrilled that he got to see an allligator twice during our stay.
