Would not recommend this hotel

I chose this hotel because it was close to Ginnie Springs and had a large pool. It was July 4 -6. When I checked in I was told we couldn't use the pool because it was getting treated for algae that it would be open the next day. . No big deal because we were at Ginnie Springs all day on the 4th. The next day the weather wasn't good . But , it finally cleared up around 3 . We headed to the pool. We were told it was closed until the pool guy could come Monday. Later that night, I went to use the restroom and the whole floor was covered in water overflowing from the toilet( nobody had been in the bathroom). I went to the front desk. They searched for a plunger and gave it to me to do. When I plunged there was institutional brown paper coming out . ( house keeping? ) speaking of housekeeping , they woke me up at 7 am screaming to each other about how an employee was sick and another employee didn't have a ride. The only plus side the free breakfast was good and they were pet friendly . At check out the GM gave us a free room for another time . I guess because I wanted to check out the day before however, they couldn't refund my money bc it was booked through Expedia . Over all, terrible July 4 th . weekend!!! My son was very disappointed! GM was very nice an apologetic , but all I could think of was "really".

Restless night in Alachua.

This hotel differently needed an update and better pillows. The breakfast was the best feature of the stay.

street lights from the parking lot

I have stayed here before and would stay again. The only objection is that on the street side of the motel you get some of the light from the security lights in the parking lot. I was OK with that as I had blinders that I use when I sleep but it would not be as comfortable if I didn't have them. Rooms on the pool side of the motel don't have this problem.

We came back for a second visit

This is our second stay and it was fine, as was the first. The price is reasonable and the breakfast is great. We would stay again if we were in the area. Personnel were very friendly and helpful and the rooms are cleaned quickly and thoroughly in the morning.

Best of bad selection

Pros: The hotel has a large pool and a nice outdoor area for sitting and even grilling.
Cons: The hotel needs to update or upgrade their window AC units.
The Quality Inn in Alachua seemed to be the best of what appeared to be a series of bad options at that exit. We were disappointed in the following. 1. Heavy condensation collects on the windows due to the poor quality AC units. It leaves the room very damp when you run the AC for long. We noticed many other rooms had the same issue. 2. There were several people who seemed to be living in the hotel long term while we were there. These individuals spent the night drinking outside, arguing loudly and creating a general disturbance. During the day they just hung around smoking all day. One man in particular was very creepy, just wandering around smoking in his underwear, wrapped in a blanket while peeking into cars and windows. 3. The hotel ran out of food for breakfast the morning we were there. We ended up going next door to McDonalds. It was less crowded and we could get more than a muffin. The whole experience put together made for a negative stay. We were able to get sleep, and the room seemed to be cleaned well despite the damp, musty feel. One positive was a very large outdoor pool and a courtyard where one could sit and even grill out. Unfortunately, it was too cold for us to swim and the unsavory characters made us feel uncomfortable doing a cookout.

Clean quiet worth the cost

2 trucks, 1 trailer, it worked. Not a lot within walking distance for dinner but, you can survive with what is nearby. Clean room, quieter than expected.

Long distance stop over...

Pros: bed linens, internet and breakfast were all good, but those are standard amenities now
no one was at the desk when I arrived. after driving 10 hrs, had to look up my reservation on my phone and called the hotel number. listened to it ring to no answer, checked the back office to make sure it wasn't a crime scene?? 15 minutes later, the desk clerk appeared with an armful of towels and no apology. the bath mat in my room was neatly folded on the tub, but soaking wet and there was wood rot on the bathroom door. it was too late to complain or move, but will not book a choice hotel again.
