The cabin was very charming and afforded all the privacy I had anticipated it would. I had a little trouble with the fireplace instructions, but the owners were very helpful and after a quick call, I was able to get it lit. Overall great experience, I will definitely stay there again next time I travel to Galena.

Not clean. Allergies might get worse. Ok breakfast. Great view of Milky Way. No light pollution. No internet connection. Good for campers.

Pioneering itPosted Oct 10, 2017
Pros: The best part about this stay was that it was like a time period stay, with modern conveniences
Cons: the matress was a bit soft but ok
Location: Near Galena and Chestnut mountain but far enough away to be in total darkness at night and see the stars
If you like camping or long hikes, you probably would like staying here. We are very comfortable in a very nice hotel, this is not at all like them. Take out the amenities(A/C,heating, coffee pot, TV and plumbing) and this cabin would fit right in the 1850's. Those amenities do make it though. It's built just the way they were back then. It was comfortable and nicely decorated with furniture that fits the experience and the loft and fireplace were an added pluses. The owners were responsive to any problems. Had a couple minor ones and the owners were there in minutes. Could never say that for any other hotel we've stayed in. We were very comfortable and liked the heck out of the stay. This is not for everyone, but we think its worth a try. Well water is on tap and the owers realize most people don't like the taste(people tend to like steril, mineralless city or bottled water-remember those water commercials!) so the provide a new gallon of botttled water next to the coffee maker, although there is nothing wrong with well water. We've grown up on it. Check-in is as unique as one can get and so are the llamas! Everything about this rates it as a four star stay.
A "must-stay"!!Posted Sep 19, 2017 on Hotels
If you are looking for a nice place to get away for the weekend, look no further. The cabins host an alpaca farm as well as group of "doodles". Quiet, with plenty of space for at least a crew of four (there were 2 beds in the cabin-one being in the loft/second floor) The host could not be more accommodating. Galena was right around the corner. Downtown was less than a 15 minute drive away. The area was perfect for a day hike to the Mississippi River area as well.

Rustic stay cabin near GalenaPosted Mar 14, 2017
Our only issue with our stay was with the water.. When we filled the jacuzzi tub the water was orange and the jets on the tub were full of rust.. Other then that everything was exactly as pictured and very quaint

Don't go there.Posted Oct 13, 2016
We were so looking forward to our stay there. We drove to the office a little dirty shack with dogs jumping and barking. No one was there. We then drove down to the cabins. It was awful. There was mud, weeds, junked cars, things thrown behind cabins. There was no way I would even step inside one of these cabins. The cabins needed a lot of work. You may as well stay in a tent. We drove home. No thanks!!

Different kind of place and experience.Posted Aug 23, 2016
I felt the grounds could have been neater; including the office. The grass needed to be cut and I could have done without the dogs next door barking whenever they saw us. The interior was nice, a few cobwebs but clean otherwise. The bed was very comfortable. The drive from Galena was beautiful and not that far from town. I would definitely go back. Much better than the typical hotel experience.

Not badPosted May 18, 2016 on Hotels
I would say this is average place to stay, little overpriced though. Not very clean (cobwebs, yellow stains in the bathroom) but not disgusting. Outside not very appealing but on the other hand quiet and green. Inside little dated and fireplace didn't work. Bathroom very spacious but yellow stains from water everywhere on sink, toilet bowl and bathtub. I think for that price you can find better place for that price.
