Next to the Galleria!!!

I normally do not have the privilege to spend a 4 day weekend for myself. I am glad this orthodontic seminar I attended was at Double Tree. At the end of the day..I went driving around (even it's just a walking distance)..and checked out great stores like Nordstrom Rack, Home Goods, Forever 21, Best Buy and the Galleria. To.my surprise..I was able to finish my Christmas shopping for my staff and family. You can really, literally shop until you drop. There's lot of choices to eat around the hotel. However, I enjoyed just ordering room service (good food) and watched the latest movies ("still in theaters")..in my own room..and snoozed in my bed. That's a TREAT!! The mattress was very comfortable and the room was big. I am glad I booked it through Expedia. I got better price for the same 4 star hotel...compared if I booked it myself. The only thing that I didn't like is..the front desk didn't want to give me hotel points to my HILTON HONORS just because I booked through Expedia. I personally think...they should still honor crediting me points for choosing to stay at a HILTON HONORS member hotel. Holiday Inn can do that..why can't Double Tree honor it.

Expected better

I had foreign hairs on towel in my bathroom when I arrived. Enough to make me gag. The water was brown, the shower faucet was pulling off the wall and the final day before I left I was provided new coffee packages but no cups to use. My brother stayed in another room and had a cigarette butt in his room when he walked into it. Not to mention the literal 15 minute wait for an elevator on Friday and Saturday night and a security guard had to grant access to allow use of the stairs. Total waste of money. I will not stay there again

Inside the action of Galleria but nothing else

The hotel location was really great. So many things to walk to. I actually recommend walking to them because if you have a vehicle that was either valet or self parked, I recommend keeping it there. Self parking garage normally was pretty full and there were only stairs on one side and no elevator. It was pretty inconvenient especially being an expectant mother with luggage. Not only that but the garage is not attached to the hotel in any way so you have to walk across the courtyard and the entrance of the hotel where cars come and go. There were so many valet cars parked in the front when there are parking spaces in the garage for that purpose. It made things harder to come and go when you have a car because the entrance space was limited and you have to be careful not to accidentally swipe a car on its side. The hotel itself was clean, they had all necessities in the room and enough towels for our stay. Bed was pretty comfortable but did not like the fact that we were placed in front of the elevator when we specifically asked not to be and they were not able to accommodate because of the holiday. It wasn't a big deal at night but in the early morning you hear the elevator ding and can be hard to stay asleep. If you really don't care for comfort, accessible and easy parking, and noise, then this is a nice hotel ONLY because of location. I personally am not ever booking here because of the parking situation.

Close to galleria

Wife wasn't too happy about couple of things and the staff wasn't very knowledgeable which made things unpleasant , would recommend to others though

Great stay right in the Galleria

I had a very comfortable stay and was able to rest well. The staff was super friendly and so were the valet. Right around the corner from Galleria Mall and there is great dining options close by.

Dirty Laundry

I stayed at the Double Tree recently for a business trip. All in all it is a nice hotel, and that is what I expected when I booked it. The only real issue I had was the front des and trying to get my clothes laundered. I took my clothes down in a bag handed it to the person at the front desk and he politely told me that the clothes would be back 7:00 in the evening. I came back to pick up the clothes later that evening and the front desk told me that my clothes had not returned and to check back in the morning. The next morning I call the front desk about my clothes and they said they would check for the clothes and call me back. 15 minutes later someone knocks on my door with the same bag of dirty clothes that I took down to the front desk the day before, with absolutely no explanation. I went down and asked the front desk about it and they told me that it was my fault because I didn't get the clothes downstairs on time (which is a lie) She offered no apology and quickly went on to her next task to avoid talking to me.... I will never stay at this hotel again.

Better options

Arrived at 2:30 and was told my room would not be available for an hour. Checkin was at 3:00 and I had a meeting to get to. Manager was able to get me a different room. Since I reserved through Expedia they would not allow me to have WiFi without having to pay for it even though I have been a reward member for many years. Seemed to be wanting to charge for anything and everything. There is just more accommodating hotels around that seem to want to make your business more.

Pros: Was ok for the price
Cons: More ice Machines
Only One Ice Machine. So I have to go all the way down to keep getting Ice.
