Nice hotel, great add ons

Enjoyed my stay. I received a $25 breakfast credit via Expedia and used it at the hotels "launch" location. Breakfast was ok but the price of the items was high (as expected at an upscale hotel). $22 a night for garage parking and in & out privileges.

Beautiful hotel in a great area

This hotel has such a luxurious feel to it when you walk in. It has a cute little coffee shop inside that is perfect for your morning coffee fix. The rooms are a great size, fitting not only a king size bed but a small sectional comfortably. The location is great since you are so close to a variety of shopping and food eats. The only complaint I have was the accessibility to everything so close. As a woman traveling alone for business, there were many things close by in walking distance, but not a clear path. Unfortunately I did not feel safe having to walk alone in dark alleys on my way back after dinner. If there was only a clear and safe route for guests to access a route directly behind the property would great. My restaurant was directly behind the building but since there was no access I had to walk all the way around behind dumpsters to get back. Other than this small issue, which should be nothing for those who opt for a rental car, this hotel was absolutely perfect. It was a very comfortable stay with a luxiourious feel.

Rudest staff!

I have stayed here several times in the past when I had to come to Houston. This last visit was not pleasant. This hotel is a VIP hotel with expedia, meaning you may get upgrades or perks, but this hotel doesn't recognize this status. I received in the past an upgraded room at club level and drink vouchers, but this time checking in the front desk told me they do not offer any perks for Gold members of expedia, even though the other times before it was given. They even had a manager at the front desk tell me the same thing, he as very stern and rude about it, told me he never heard of this! He spoke to me like I was a kid and I did something wrong. Needless, to say, I will not be staying at this hotel again. The hotel is located in a good location but they do charge $25 per night plus taxes for parking fees. There are plenty of other nice hotels in the Houston area that I would rather give my money to.

The hotel is average with generally smaller rooms. Needs a good update.

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!!!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Royal Sonesta this weekend to celebrate our birthday! Although this hotel was not the 1st choice on my list, it was the best decision I made and unexpected for the price! Everything from the staff, to the ambiance, to the food, down to the hotels cleanliness! Everything was Perfect! Staff was polite and responded to all of our needs quickly! The entire hotel was spotless! They put us on the 23rd floor for our 23rd Birthday's (upon request) They even had a complimentary dessert waiting for us in our room upon our arrival! And the location is even better! We were literally across the street from the Galleria Mall! We actually were able to see it from our room. This trip is was perfect and well worth it! We will be back again!

Nice downtown hotel - Poor Services

Pros: Central, downtown location
Cons: Housekeeping and shuttle service.
Location: Many restaurants and shopping nearby.
Check-in was pleasant, quick and efficient. Front desk staff and valet service were great, but they seem to be the only ones that understand the concepts of service and attentiveness. We chose this hotel for the location and the fact that they provided shuttle service within a 3 mile radius of the hotel. In 2 days, we were able to use the shuttle one time and that was only after multiple calls and having to get angry about failing to pick us up. Housekeeping hadn't been to the room by 3 pm. We called to make sure we hadn't been forgotten. Finally, at 5 pm We requested that the room be made up. She arrived promptly, but took another 45 minutes to replace the towels and make the beds. She was on her cell phone and visiting with co-workers during this time. I'm guessing these distractions were contributing to the poor service.
