View of the Gulf from the walkway to the 61st Street Fishing Pier. A storm is rolling in which makes for a dramatic sunset.

#LocalGem #GoldenHour Just enjoying a nice sunset with my daughter on Galveston Island. Trying to get better with my long exposure shots. Was hoping more people were on the pier that night so I could get the ferris wheel spinning...no luck but an enjoyable view anyway. #sunset #galveston #beach Fun place Nice walk down the beach in Galveston, Texas on a cool evening. Smooth surf and a few good clouds. #beach An architectural treasure predating the the great Galveston hurricane of 1900.
#LocalGem #Architecture photo contest In the pyramids there. Interesting statue!
#StunningStructures Finally made my way down to Galveston yesterday. Lots of cool things to see there. Of course, our day ran out of time. But on our way out we did manage to shoot this cool, old cemetery. There were a few cemeteries in Galveston that we could have stopped in, we just liked the look of this one. :) View of the new Pleasure Pier from Murdoch's deck. Murdoch's deck is a choice place for lounging and cooling off. They'll sell you a sandwich, snack, soda, and/or beer and you can hang out on their shaded deck and watch the water in one of their comfy chairs. #waterlust Enjoying an evening on the beach with my daughter. Beautiful evening gave us an excuse to take a few pictures!
Playing around with some long exposure here. Left the shutter open for about 8 seconds just to see if she could stand still for that long. #beach #sunset Beautiful city with beautiful beaches! The abandoned Falstaff brewery in Galveston Sunrise on the beach on the lovely island I call home Perfect beach day. The 1877 tall ship named ELISSA, a fantastic piece of Texan history which has also been designated one of America's Treasures by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. ELISSA is a three-masted, iron-hulled sailing ship built in 1877 in Aberdeen, Scotland by Alexander Hall & Company. The Owner Eats Here. The Original Mexican Cafe, Galveston, Texas. Tasty Tex-Mex, light, crispy chips, tangy salsa. Vegetarian options. In front of Olympia Grill, view of the Pleasure Pier. Love seeing the animals in the wild where they belong.

This tranquil The abandoned Falstaff brewery This is the abandoned Falstaff brewery in Galveston. Take from our room. Various unique buildings. The water was cold but I loved walking and listening to the waves with my love. The Bishop's Palace, also known as Gresham's Castle, is an ornate Victorian-style house, located on Broadway and 14th Street in the East End Historic District of Galveston, Texas. #Architecture Falstaff brewery Nice relaxing day In front of the hotel. My then-boyfriend and my shadows on the beach at Galveston. We'd written out names and the year in the sand. I like it that you can see our names and our shadows. It was one of the first pictures we'd taken together as a couple. This is the Galveston Historic Pleasure Pier - quite an extraordinary sight. Originally built in 1943 it was unfortunately ripped down by hurricane Carla in 1961. It was reopened in 2012 Gloomy day! Gloomy day! One of our favorite little weekend getaways is a quick 45 minute drive from Houston. The Hotel Galvez and Spa has been the grand hotel of the Galveston sea wall since 1911. Originally built to help Galveston tourism recover from the devastation of the great hurricane of 1900 that almost ended the life of this island city. Charming architecture, beautiful pool, great bars and amenities. Given its age and history it has more than a few ghost stories as well. The Hotel is a member of Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Fantastic gumbo, good beer selection. My friend loved his steak gumbo. I went traditional with shrimp gumbo, and jalapeño cornbread, natch. #beach Galveston at sunset, 2013 Looking at Pleasure Pier in Galveston Early morning sunrise from the Galveston, TX cruise port.
