Surprise that parking is not free

Posted Jan 3, 2018
We were charged $10 for parking and for that class of hotel I would expect for it to be free. Outside of that everything was fine.

Amazing staff!!

Posted Nov 23, 2017
I was excited to stay in a room with a jetted tub but upon walking into my room I realized there was no jetted tub. I went back to the desk and the manager came up and started checking to see how she could help. There were no rooms with jetted tubs but she went above and beyond to make me happy so I couldn't be upset. The room was very clean. The only thing that would have mate this hotel perfect is softer beds. The beds were way too firm for me (it was hard to sleep because my back kept hurting) I also was kept up until midnight by someone running back and forth either in the hallway or the floor above me but that's not the hotels fault

Nice Hotel close to the beach.

Pros: see above
Cons: see above
Location: No thanks
I stayed at two hotels in Galveston. The Double Tree, and the Hotel Galvez. Both were priced the same. To be honest, the Galvez was much more elegant and the experience seemed much more high end. But we did not have a balcony at the Galvez, and we had a small one facing the sun rise at the Double Tree. We liked the balcony with coffee and sunrise. We also liked the delicious cookies (often warm) and we always felt welcome to have some every time we passed the front desk. The cookies should not be under rated. But the restaurant(?) as well as much of the other hotel amenities seemed more like a Comfort Inn/Days Inn, etc, than a hotel costing as much as the Hotel Galvez, which had an elegant restaurant, pool, spa, and lobby. My experience was good at the Double Tree, but for the money, the Galvez is the better vacation experience. Mark

This is a $100 hotel at best.

Great location! Room was a mess and not worth $285 a night! Simply a converted Days Inn. Water damage was painted over, shower was dirty, the pool was never cleaned, Not worth the money!

There was a $10.00 per night parking fee to park in the lot on site. The pool was very nice.

doubletree double bad

Posted Oct 2, 2017 on Hotels
mildew smelling room, room service phone was broke, so no service at all. Worst stay in a double tree ever, for the price paid you would think these issues would have been resolved. Thanks for the horrible stay double tree!
