Rugs stained and room needs an update.Posted Oct 10, 2015
The hotel needs to be updated to be rated 5 stars. All the rugs in the hotel were stained and no conditioner for the shower. Breakfast buffet was nice. The hotel spa was nice.

Ultra modern stylish hotelPosted Sep 6, 2015
Pros: The friendly staff and good food.
Cons: The bedding needs to be more flexible.
Location: The g is about fifteen minutes walk from town centre. The Spanish Arch and museum are good, and the river walk is beautiful. Seafood is lovely.
This is a trendy hotel with milliner Philip Tracey as its stylist. His designs are the artwork and the furniture too. Public areas are bright pink, dark blue and white with silver. Our room was large with white carpet (and a nasty brown stain near the desk) and king bed made up with a thick quilt. We asked for it to be made up with a blanket instead as it was far too warm for the quilt and there are no opening windows. It was then made up with a thin cotton fringed throw so we had the choice of being too hot or too cold that night. Additionally, the new air conditioning controls have a very bright green light which floods the room with light so our first night was a disaster. The concierge recognised the light problem instantly, obviously we weren't the only ones affected, and gave us two sticking plasters to cover it. Housekeeping meanwhile added a single bed throw to the bed which helped a little but was not really satisfactory. We had three very poor nights' sleep. I can't believe a hotel like this has not got a king sized blanket and insists on using thick quilts in Summer. Parking is in the basement, easy to access and free. Good wifi is free. The breakfasts were good with lots of choice and great hot dishes from the kitchen. Dinner in the lounges and the restaurant was very good. I disliked the very bright pink decor in one of the lounges intensely but that is a personal perspective. A good night's sleep is essential when travelling so I would not stay here again.

beginning to look tiredPosted Aug 28, 2015 on Hotels
looking tired in the room. Stains on carpet and only feather pillows. Asked for them to be replaced when we went to dinner . This did not happen. I would expect better!!

Gorgeous hotel, great staff amazing views and foodPosted Aug 10, 2015
The only thing about the hotel that wasn't perfect is that it's a 20 minute walk to the town all amenities and rooms were amazing cannot say enough about how lovely the staff were!

Quickly losing it's appealPosted Aug 10, 2015 on Hotels
The G was a wonderful possibly 5 star hotel in the past but it has not kept up with improvements. The rooms are getting tired with broken fixtures, cracked pedestal sinks, stains on the carpets and walls, heating and cooling system that was non responsive and exit signs hanging from the ceilings in the hallways. More appalling was the lack of attention to detail. The flush mechanism on the toilet was broken off, the cleanliness under the pedestal sinks was not evident as a cotton bud there upon arrival was still there upon departure. Fortunately the service was wonderful even though the food left a little to be desired. Coffee was undrinkable (way too bitter), ran out of smoked salmon at breakfast and choice of fish options at breakfast was very limited. We would probably look for alternative accommodation on our next visit to Galway.

Very nice hotel. Staff is friendly & super helpfulPosted Jul 21, 2015
Pros: Staff and facility is top notch.
Cons: Lighting in the hallways of one portion of the hotel would be help seniors.
Location: Downtown is walkable, but will want to cab it home. Easy to catch a cab. Huntsman a across the street is nice bar too.
We stayed here recently and had a great experience. The staff could not have been nicer and gone out of their way to recommend restaurants, pubs and things to experience in Galway. Hotel is top notch. The only issue I could see were the dimly lit hallways might not be perfect for seniors with poor vision. We didn't have our folks with us so we loved the place.
