"A great location. Cute hotel. Lovely roof terrace."
Located in a great location - it was easy to explore Stockholm from here. The rooms are small, but as the receptionist explained to a couple who complained, the beds are standard size! The decor was tired in our room, the colour scheme and design was dark and heavy which didn't help in such a small room. The breakfast was fabulous, with plenty of choice and something for everyone, including a good gluten free selection. We spent a couple of hours on the lovely roof terrace. A bar up there would make it perfect!

"Charming fabulous hotel in central Stockholm"
The hotel is set in the old town area of Stockholm, Gamla Stan. It is small and tucked away down a high street right in the middle of the central old town, and has all the charms offered for its architecture and setting. It is a tall narrow building with lots of stairs (no good for anyone with a disability, old or infirm) and our room was on the second floor. It was a wonderful room - light and airy with windows on two sides, a perfect en suite bathroom with all mod cons, and in the room there is a sink with plates cutlery etc so you can prepare your own food should you wish. The room has wooden flooring, very clean, and as the hotel is so old, the room actually slopes! its a bit like walking on a boat or being a bit drunk! we were mother daughter on a trip away and therefore asked the hotel to place the beds as two singles which they did. Downsides? the beds are narrow (but very comfortable) and there is noise outside at night (we had to close the windows) but that is to be expected in such a central position. It is human noise though - no cars or traffic here. And all the voices were happy! The breakfasts are great - a self serve buffet style with meats, cheeses, cereals, pouring yoghurts, crisp breads and the coffee is really great. Don't come here if you want a traditional english breakfast but its a traditional skandia fair - eat as much as you like. Free wi-fi, free water, lovely friendly hosts with great travelling tips - highly recommended.

"Great location - ensure you book the correct room"
Perfectly situated in the old city, an old building that has a maze of rooms on the ground floor. There is no obvious lounge area and the inside bar was not open during our stay, however the outside bar was great. The building is quite old although clean, tidy and well appointed inside. I booked a small double room which was correctly described as we were in the loft area and had a sloping roof in the room so difficult to stand up when getting out of bed on one side.We had no space to sit apart from on the bed and had no tea/coffee facilities in the room. In hindsight I should have booked a larger room but the rooms are expensive. I paid 200GBP per night for our small room which I thought was way too much but Stockholm is a very expensive place to do anything.

"Great location. Fun to stay on a boat"
Pro: Close to Old Town, great view, the area was quiet, good breakfast, helpful staff. Con: It is an older boat with the same space limitations, similar to a cruise ship room.. The bathroom ventilation was not enough; I opened the window. My room was at the beginning of the corridor to the guest rooms, so I heard all the traffic as the guests went to/from their rooms.

"Lovely hotel, situated on the water front"
Friendly and helpful staff - especially as we lost our passports (stolen from backpack in Gamla Stan - so do be aware this sort of stuff happens). Nice room with a view over the waterfront, breakfast selection is excellent - the best I've seen so far, and well worth it. Situation is excellent, you can walk to most of the places, and lots of places to eat (though not particularly cheap). Would have been nice to have a safe in the room. Of course having passport stolen required a trip to the police station - very helpful police - just an aside, and the British embassy staff were excellent (though not open on the bank holiday). Stockholm really is lovely in late August, and just ambling around the city is pleasant. If you are going to do a bit of travelling around Stockholm - get the SL pass.

"Exactly as advertised"
Incredible value. Incredible location. If you don't mind sharing a bathroom, this is the way to go in Stockholm. Very clean and comfortable. The staff were great (but note that they're only around until about 15:00 each day). The bed sheets aren't included but it's definitely worth paying the 65 SEK to get them. Breakfast was very simple but good : bread, crackers, cheese, jam, coffee, and tea. The rooms in the vault were a very unique setting.

"Live like a local"
Great base for the many museums/boat trips and sight seeing trips. It was great to be able to pop back to the apartment for a cup of coffee and a rest mid-day if you wanted to especially with children. The choice of restaurants right on your door step makes it really easy to please everyone. This has got to be the closest you can get to living like a local. The Vasa museum and Skansen is a must.

Pocket Guide: Gamla Stan, Stockholm Historic Hotels

The Royal Palace, a Buckingham Palace look-alike, is in Stockholm's Old Town. While the royal family chooses to live in Drottingholm, about a half-hour away, there are tours available, as well as the changing of the guard. The area's major thoroughfare, Västerlånggatan, is a pedestrian area filled with shops and restaurants.
